I finally got around to installing my 100mm Densecharger but did not screw the plastic plate to the fender. I really did not want to drill the three holes into the fender. So the plate is installed between the two pipes, and flush with the fender wall, just not secured.

Did everyone else fasten the plate?

Also, will the computer automatically adjust for the better air flow?

I drilled the holes and attached the plate. If you are worried about rust dab some silicone on the holes and on the screws before you tighten them down.

Your computer will adjust to the new air flow after a couple of run cycles.

I screwed mine down as well.
As long as you disconnected the battery before you installed the Densecharger it should recalibrate itself. Not as well as a custom tuned chip but it will readjust itself.
