My drivers side door latch is not catching the striker. The 2 gears move and have no resistence. I took the door panal off and found all the are rods attached (inside, outside door handles, the key lock and pull knob for the lock). I did find a spring in the bottom of the door in 2 pieces. I have looked for a picture of the inside mechanics of the latch to see where that spring is suppose to go, but no luck. Any help would be great. I would like to see where it goes before I go out and start looking for the spring. I haven't seen the spring for sale anywhere yet, but alot of venders carry the latch assembly (and no pictures).

I am only showing the latch as an assembly no break down of the latch it self. Looks like $40. I guess if you really wanted to replace the spring you could take the passenger side apart.

Thanks for the idea, but I'm looking for someone who has been down this road. I also received an email from someone who thinks they have an old door behind the barn. I'm hoping to have a whole door tho tear apart and not worry about having 2 doors that don't work on the same car. The going on this car is slow. Most of the bolts and screws are rusty and break or strip trying remove them.

Was the door working fine before this???? Some times its the adjustment on the doors is way off, caused by worn out hinge pin bushings craked door frame or the striker has loosed up and is the wrong position....

I have my doors apart on my 67 FB and I'll look to see where the spring goes

Hello Jimmy Ray, the drivers side door has never latched since I have owned it. I had to tie the door close when I had it flat bedded home. It isn't a striker issue or door pin problem. The gears that go around the striker is what's not holding. How's your 67 comming?

The door will now latch and stay closed. No more holding the door when I back out of the garage. Thanks for everyones input and help.

Next is the brakes (there is no power booster) I am under impression that 390GT cars with disk brakes were all power. I'm looking to see if that is true or not.
