Hey DFW guys

I finally got to detail the engine compartment and as discussed on our last get together, DHG#1317 engine compartment is not clearcoated. You can definately see the difference where the fenders overlap into the engine compartment.

Have you guys heard of any one elses BULLITT like this? I'm not fealing really special because of it. Wish it was.

I'm not sure, but I think it's just the inside of the hood that's clearcoated. Is yours?

Hood, firewall, inner fender, under hood and rad support should ALL be clearcoated.

I beleive that it was an option for most Mustangs. Called Showcar paint job. Supposed to clear coat the trunk as well. I never noticed till the other day, but our Escort Sports have this clearcoat paint job ass well:cool: . WOW!

Why yours is DHG and not clearcoated is really a special OOPS courtesy of your Ford Factory. Don't you love the modern production process?

I noticed sometime back, they missed the trunk on my car. It looks better than the normal paint job, but stops just short of having a polished clearcoat finish. My hood and engine compartment is clearcoated like it should be.

I know what you are thinking. If it was involved in a frontal crash, I wouldn't have bought it. It would have to have been a salvage title car. It checked out clean. But it is the entire engine compartment. The parts that should have been clearcoated. I am the third owner.

I washed and waxed Jan's PT on Sunday and we got near hurricane force winds/rain that night. It's like it was waiting for me to finish, then "bwwwuuuhhaaahaaa"

The poor Bullitt's just sitting feeling dejected. I hope it doesn't run away from home.

I used to work at a body shop and just because it has a clean title and checked out dosn't mean anything. When things were slow are people didn't want to claim it or could not claim it we would fix totals and it wouldn't even show up on any records. Now before I will ever buy a used car I will put it on a lift and do a total inspection. Just for peace of mind.
