Plans are being finalized for a short Shootout style weekend event. Looks like October 13th in Shreveport, LA.

Looking for a name for the first annual event! Here's some:

Bullitt Battle in the Bayou
Fall Bullitt Shootout

The winning name gets an event t-shirt!!!

How about BAYOU BULLITT BASH ... (???)

Sounds like a cool deal. Wife's birthday weekend. I'm already trying to get that weekend off.

What a great idea! A trip to Shreveport to the casinos and a car event! Sounds like a great birthday present. :D

I like something to do with "in the bayou". Shootout in the bayou or something like that. Shreveport, here come the Texans! My car should be put back together by then...

To keep the naming similar how about the Bayou Bullitt Shootout to go with the Texas Bullitt Shootout

Bayou

I hope they still have plenty of crawfish. Yung (my wife) just LOOOOOOOOVES crawfish and she already knows all about them in Louisiana. If we go there for her birthday weekend and there is NO CRAWFISH ... I'll be scatchin' fleas for a while right next door to G. Thorogood ... DAAAAAAAANG !!!

Gonna be a lot of road time here too ... I'm trying to get to the powwow in Kinder the first weekend, then home, then back to Shreveport the next weekend. Probably only take 1276 to Shreveport though.

I'll check back from time to time to see how this all turns out.

Another suggestion for a name: "HORSEPOWER ON THE BAYOU", or "BLUE OVAL THUNDER ON THE BAYOU"

Mach's are welcome but as far as awards etc no. Just not enough participation to warrant adding awards. We have had only 8 machs register for the last two Shootouts then only half of that number show up.

I was just thinking of something regarding hotels for IMBOC folks ...

The Marriott empire has several hotel chains. Their cheaper ones (i.e. Courtyard by Marriott, etc.) usually offer a full breakfast and are cleaner than your average Motel 6, Days Inn, etc,. They also seem to have programs for organizations and groups like ours. Some of these programs offer group "rewards", etc. that could be used to defray the costs some long-distance members and/or guest speakers would incurr when going to the annual NATS, etc,. I think it works like the organization would "bank" so many points which are eventually used for free rooms. This may, or may not be in addition to what the members would earn in any individual rewards programs.

These rewards programs do not inhibit group discounts, as far as I know. These points accumulate and can be used on their "suites" hotels and I think most if not all the other hotel(s) in their corporate realm.

Just a suggestion to see if the "IMBOC command personnel" could check in to this and see if something like this type of progam would work for IMBOC (if this has not already been done).

Again ... Just another suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestions.

But here's the problem. We can't get significant discounts from the chains. We try to keep the hotel costs around $70 -$80. As an example the host hotel for the Mid America event was the Marriot at $130. If Mid America can't get hugh discounts (they usually sell out the hotel) we will have no chance with the 30 or so we usually have. The $79 a night we had at the Comfort Suites was an exceptional deal for us.

Courtyard by Marriott was $89 a night plus you had to buy breakfast in the resturant. We have had better luck contacting the hotels directly and negociating a room rate.

Next year with Mustang Week their host hotel is $130 + a night. Way too much for most of the Nationals attendees. Costs for the event will be lower (pay as you go) but the distances some will travel will require a larger amount of funds (gas, hotel stays).

As far as defraying costs their is no fair way to do this. If we were to get 3 free nights from our rewards program who do we give it to? Raflfle it off? We do work to aid Special guests by asking the hotel to comp their rooms if needed but we haven't had to do this as of yet.

If we had a member that was an employee of a major hotel chain maybe we could get in good! If someone could help us with that it would be great!!

No idea on the turnout. I know Paul, Double J, Bullitt Makes Three, and a few others that have committed. A guess would be around 25 cars.

Houston is great.
I think in the future the Texas BULLITT(s) should consider some sort of gig in Galveston, San Antonio, Austin, or maybe Padre Island ... (???)

In the Spring is the Bullitt Shootout. We are considering moving again due to track troubles  Again. Longview was the perfect place but no track now.. Palestine is great but the track owner closes if it looks like rain. Might consider around Galveston. April would be a great time to get to the beach. May do a poll and see what happens. The fall event will be a regional event as opposed to the Shootout which is more about Texas!!
