Well it was just a matter of time before I got the first major ding. Here's what happened and then the "cure". Pulled into a gas station I normally don't go to and without thinking opened the door only to have it abruptly come to a sharp stop with a nightmarish loud thud! Right next to the door handle along the crease was a divot the size of a child's thumbprint and two small area's of chipped paint surface. Great....now I gotta' go to the Nationals next week ....maimed! A buddy told me of a guy who does "Paintless Dent Repair". I drove over and seventy-five bucks later the dent was totally removed. He drilled a 1/2 inch hole (which he plugged) in the driver's side door jam and passed through this steel rod and slowly applied pressure outwardly to bend out the dent until it could no longer be seen. I ordered some touch-up paint from the Ford dealer PX (Ford # PMP-19500-6920A) used the end of a toothpick to dab it over the chips and voilla...not too bad. Not good as new but for a quick fix on this daily driver, I can live with it. Just passing on some info on cheap dent repair. Maybe if I get a few more I'll spring for a body shop repair job. (I have $250..00 deductable) Watch out at those gas station's. Peace "Wheelman"
Mike,
Please reply back about the ding guy. Where is he located? I was at the gas station filling up and some guy walked into the filling hose while I was cleaning the windows. It bent the fuel door into the quarter panel and I have a nice little dent in mine now. Maybe I can take the car over to that guy tomorrow after I finish the SC install.
Sure Rob, The owners name is Jed Donovan, he took about ten minutes to fix mine. Tell him I sent you over. The address is 300 Chinquapin Round Rd., Annapolis, Md 21401. Tel 410 280-1333 or better yet 800 932 5285.
P.S. I'm going to pm you with my cell number so we can get in touch in Myrtle Beach.
C-Ya Mike
Mike,
Cool deal !!! I don't know if I will make to Annapolis today. I will have to call him to see if he is open tomorrow. I have to extend 4 wires and I'm done with the SC install. Then all I have to do is test and put the bumper cover on. Then, I have to get the family packed and they are leaving today. I might let them pack themselves and head to Annapolis today...lol
