Not good at the mechanical stuff so I am wondering how downshifting caused a crack in the transmission. I am assuming you were downshifting from 5th or 4th to 3rd.
Found out the hard way......
That my car has a smoke screen function like in the spy movies.....LOL
Anyways I was heading home from the shop after getting my x-pipe put in. I was on the 60fwy heading west got to an open stretch of road and decided to see what the old bullitt could do.
So I down shifted and punched it. It zipped to 120mph so fast I couldnt believe it...
Then out of noware I heard BOOM!....
Look in my rear veiw and saw nothing but white smoke cars that were behind disapeared and started honking cuz they couldnt see.
I let off and started checking my gauges to see if I blew the motor...But everthing checked out ok.
I pulled over and looked under the car I notice something pouring on the back of the engine. So I thought I threw a rod tell I looked closer and realized my car was bleeding.....Yes it was my tranny.
Come to find out I put a nice size crack in the rear housing of the tranny. :lol:
The funny thing was I was happy it wasnt the engine....:smile:
