I ran my best low today at the track. There is still allot more i will get out of the car stock.I need to work on my launch and my 60'. I'm not new to drag racing.I have raced my Buicks in the past.(Just nail it and hold on!) That sure does not work with my Bullitt!

I'm getting very close to 13's!

R/T...782
60'...1.983 my best 60'so far!
330...5.836
1/8...9.010
MPH...77.04
1000...11.746
1/4...14.03
MPH...98.06

This run was about 10:15 am. I don't know what the weather was but at 11:30 am it was 114 deg. with 28 percent humidity. Not very humid but VERY HOT.

My car has 1,190 miles with just a K @ N. I do have Nitto's tires that will pay off big time after I improve my driving.

I sure do envy JB Vobra for his driving of the Bullitt! There sure is a technique to it.

What RPM did you launch at on the Niito's? That 60ft. is the key to a 13sec. ET. Not bad !

I think it was around 2800rpm. I tried launching low at 1500 my 60ft. was not good.I need alot more work on the launch, i'm not very consistant. I think it helps if i run against a fast car,i was at the track on Thursday night i ran 14.17 against a Z06 at that time that was my best time.On Saturday i ran against a LS1 and ran the 14.03. The faster cars keep me on my toes! :-B The nitto's are a great tire i was running 14.50's 14.60's on the stock tires but i think it's my driving getting better not the nitto's if i can get the car to run 13.50's then i know it's the nitto's.

Ray,

-17psi in the nittos
-40psi in the fronts
-drive around the water
-back into the water and quick spin the rears
-pull in front of water
-raise revs
-drop clutch
-grab brake with left foot
-hold the brake and maintain the gas 5000rpms
-burnout for 6-8 seconds
-let off the brake and ease forward until the tires squeal
-stage in the box around 4500 rpms
-"preload" the clutch (raise the clutch up while staging just to the threshold of engagement)
-on the last amber, slip the clutch out and give it the gas

This is a comprehensive step-by-step to get sure-fire sub 2.0 60fts. With practice, you can get low 1.9/high 1.8's pretty regulary. My best so far is 1.88. These cars hook surprisingly well for a lowered suspension and the stock 3.27 gearing.

As always, good luck! Bring home some 13's!

Thanks for the advise JB!

I will follow your technique the next time I go to the track. If the ran stop I'll go this saturday.
The burn out will be easy I have a line lock. My Nitto's are smaller the yours I'm using 245-45-17 555dg. I put slicks on but the slicks slowed me down at the top end.I figured the 245 would work well there the same as the stock size with much better traction.

13's are in my future!!!!!

Z06? He ran high 12's he had 450HP traction was a BIG problem for him.

The LS1 was running mid 12's with great traction. He was not stock.

Maybe thats it. It just won't accelerate any faster in 3rd gear. 3.73s would allow a bit more usable acceleration in 4th gear.

Question Ray, what elevation are you racing in? I bought #5421 AFTER our track had its last race of the season. Our elevation here is usually around 5500ft. I have all winter to dream of a 13 sec. ET , however I think 13s in 5500ft. air is going to be just that a dream ......
