Got up to go to work this moring and the right side front tire was flat. I have a compressor in the garage for painting so I pumped it up, but decided to take my truck instead of the Bullitt. Went in and told the wife it was flat and asked if she could take it in to get it fixed. She called me before I even made it into the office. The tire went flat in about 15 minutes ;-(. when she felt around the back side of the tire she found a hole. So I asked her to get some quotes on replacing the tire. First place was 355.05 for one tire and it would take a couple of days to get. After shopping around, I found one for $100.00 but I'm a little nervous on this one. But tomorrow the tire to be replaced.

Uggg... I want to put new tires and rims on, but not just yet. I did look at the Bridgstone Daytona tires. They are about $128.00 each. Anyone had tried these?

BTW, don't blow just one tire, it cost WAY TOOO MUCH!!!

Take care.

You must have priced the tire at a Goodyear Retailer to get the $300+ quote. That happened to me with my '95 GT that had the same tires. At the time, Goodyear wanted $320, Sears wanted $195 and the TireRack online wanted $184...all for the same tire. I ended up going with Sears because they were local and gave me 10% off the total. So if you must get it replaced with OEM, try out your local Sears.

Not sure if I am too late with this post, but let me tell you my tire experience. I caused a major blowout on my rear passenger tire by lighting it up in first while I was still rolling. I must of caught some foreign object, because this created a huge gash in the middle of the tire's tread. I was flat in a minute. I threw the doughnut on and went to the local goodyear store.

Once there, I told the salesman these were brand new, factory tires, less than 5,000 miles. He looked them up, and sure enough $360. I then told him I thought that the quality was not up to par and asked him if he could call Goodyear on my behalf. He said sure and made the call and ordered the tire from another store at the same time. Turns out, Good year paid for almost half of the tire's cost, and, since I was on Company business, my firm reimbursed me for another $100. I ended up about $100 out of pocket for a brand spanking new goodyear. Anyway, just thought it may be worth a shot if you have less than 5k on 'em.

Before I got the car home, I went to Goodyear to get the road hazard warranty for the factory tires. The road hazard warranty is 10% of the cost of the lowest price they have on that tire new. "Lucky" me, the GoodYear Eagle 245/45ZR17's were on "sale" for $220 each, (down from $249.95 each). So, to get the warranty on 4 tires, I forked over $88. The only caveat is that when they replace a tire, you have to buy the warranty again or the new tire won't be covered by road hazard. Personally, I can live with getting a new tire for $22...

Goodyear tires are the crappiest tires around! They should pay us 300 bucks a piece for using them! The gatorback is 20 year old technology and it is THE worst tire in any condition but dry pavement, and maybe somewhere in the middle of the bar for performance on dry pavement at that. Goodyear needs to get their heads outa their a$$es and realize their tires suck and start pricing them accordingly. Go with anything BUT Goodyear imo.

I had a slow leak in my right front with 600 miles on the Bullitt. Took it to a local Goodyear dealer, found a small screw in the tread close to sidewall, to close to repair. Decided to replace, they had them in stock, $235.00 plus warrenty.

227 is back on the road now. The $100.00 tire was left over from a tire shop that no longer sells Goodyear products. He wanted to get rid of it and since my brother sends him all his fleet buisness, he made me the deal of a life time! $100.00. But as soon as they are warn out, I am getting something else!!! One thing I have read over and over on this board is that the LAST choice is Goodyear ;-(...

Thanks for the links everyone.

Bud

PS No more rolling burnouts for me as well<G>.
