Does anyone know where the bullitt is governed at? When I first bought it, the dealer told me that he thought it was at 115mph, but I know that he is wrong because I have been up to 120. Does anyone know the truth, and what is your top speed so far?

I don't think there is a governed speed. Several here have hit 150 before they backed off. I have hit 130 and it was still pulling strong.

5th gear @ approx 4500 rpm with 3.73:1 gears and stock wheels, STEEDA U/D water and crank pulleys, Densecharger CAI, BBK LT's with off-road h pipe (also tested with shorty h pipe with cats) and stock cat back = 163 MPH. There was still more but my friend with the Z06 that paced me had to back off due to a shudder in his car. On many (read more than 10 times) I have taken mine all the way to the right peg with rpms steadily climbing. Also the runs were performed with the KGS1 stock computer(with PHP chip)and re-flashed computer without my PHP chip on the car because at the moment I'm chasing some gremlins. By the way all of you who read the article about my car in MM&FF at Powertrain should know that all the power figures were down because at that time the car was misfiring a bit. Though unknown at the time it was recently proven to be related to a bad coil pack and a fouled spark plug on cylinder #1. Now if I can just find out why I have a low rpm stumble I'll be able to move on to my next project.

Some of you guys may want to check your speedo...Some strong claims of speed and rpm's. The math doesn't add up!

Roushraven need to check your speedo 4500 rpm with 3.73 gears egual just over 140 mph.

Today I got up early and went to what I call a safe area and let it rip for all she was worth , I did this once before and ran out of room at 147 mph due traffic in sight, but did not think there was much more left. Well today found out there was a good bit left. Speedo needle past the 150 mark and almost struck the peg, there was a cross wind that had my attention but was able to look at the tach, reading around 4400-4500 rpm. I'm guessing 153mph according to speedometer, but according to corral's tech math it should have been 156mph. I think the lesser speed of around 153 due the cross wind condition. I did add an aluminum drive shaft in addition to the already K&N. The shaft went in on Friday. I do have a history of driving fast in the past, but try not to drive at such high speeds as described due to risk and do not suggest anyone else drive at these speeds. I have extensive training in this area and know first hand of risk, which makes me an even bigger fool for doing this. So please let this information satisfy your curiosity and lets preserve our Bullitts and Lifes!

"mustang" my car is making just over 30 rwhp/rwtq more than stock and my horsepower curve has been extended. Also I put my car on a diet reducing curb weight a further 100lbs and all tests were done with less than 1/4 tank of high ocatne petrol. Take all of that into consideration when doing your figures and comparisons. I have done my high speed tests with either a speedo corrected chip from PHP or by following a friend in his '01 Z06. I even pulled away from a BMW M3 who was also going all out. Unless chipped all M3's over here are sold with a 155mph govenor. While I'm sure that it is always possible that my indicator and his, or my friend's with the Z06 may be off I have nonetheless buried the needle several times (i.e. past 150mph indicated) with rpms climbing to just above 4800 before backing off. In any case, I assure you that I have exceed 160 mph. Oh and thanks for the concern I wouldn't dare put others lives at risk and all of my testing is done well out of harms way to the public. As for me though, traveling at those speeds pales in comparison to my day job.

Yes, it will! ANd that is all I need to know. You all can push that envelope if you want - I'll push the envelope in other areas such as "maximum wax coverage," or "cleanest engine compartment," etc. I like the fact I can manuevre if need be - and I do! Al under the triple digit mark.

I had my Bullitt up to 148 before I ran out of road due to an upcoming stop sign. It would have easily done 150 and more.

The car pulls hard all the way through 4th and is a real BMW eater, especially going up hills. Some poor Bimmer tried to out run me on a passing situation. I surprised him from behind when he pulled out to pass, I blew right by him going up hill redllining 3rd and shifting into 4th right next to him with his window down. His face showed sheer shock.
