How could I be so late in telling you about last Saturday?
Man, it was fantastic. We had a local race day set up and I was stoked - I took the Bullitt, of course, and my ice blue '62 XKE Coupe PLUS the red '58 'Vette.
We were hot all day. The Jag took every heat leading up to the finals. The 'Vette was running fine, but just didn't have the legs that I hoped for. It retired after 3 heats.
After running away from the field in each heat, I hoped that the Jag would hold together in the finals. Lo and behold - we managed to run away with a first overall!!
Of course there is a down side to the whole story. True as it is, I have to confess that my classics are actually Pinewood Derby cars made for my son's Cub Scout pack.
Oh well - Walter Mitty eat your heart out!
