I need some assistance with regards to 2003-2004 Cobra folding mirrors. Does anyone know if the mirrors can be broken down without breaking them in order to paint the exterior housings? I had picked up a set and had been kicking around the idea of having them painted to match my Bullitt. Any and all help would be appreciated. Curt W

Just rap the mirror part with news paper and tape it up so that it stays, and then paint it. I did that with a replacement mirror for one of my old mustangs I used to own, and you couldn't tell it was ever replaced. It matched identically to the other mirror. Very easy.

Cobra Mirror painting

That sounds like a good idea, but I want to ensure proper paint coverage so when you get up close and personal with the mirror, you do not see the original color located within the mirror housing. In addition, it must be a perfect paint job for the perfect Mustang!!! Come on Bullittheads we must have a perfectionist on this site along with myself, I know I am not alone.....

Okay, seriously, cut a piece of newspaper to fit perfectly on the mirror and tape the edge down and make it follow the edges. Now when you paint you can get inside as far as you need to without the tape and paper getting in the way. Even if you get up close and personal with the mirror, you shouldn't be able to see the original color in the housing of the mirror. I'm telling ya, that's the best way to do it. It will look perfect for the perfect mustang!!

Cobra Mirrors

Dealers are out of their minds for new Factory. I got two sets actually, one set from MPS, Mustang Parts Sepcialists in Georgia, and the second set from Prestige Mustang, also in Georgia. Both places are great and are very helpful and by the way they, Prestige helped me obtain a complete Cobra decklib with spolier and wiring harness. The set from Prestige is in great shape for take offs from wrecks and the second set needs major paint work on the mounting brackets as well as the painted housings. No plans to swap out yet, but I have them, they look great and lastly I will have them repainted to match the Bullitt.
