I have been dealing with a high idle since I bought the car. After having it into the dealership on noumerous occasions, they finally ordered a new ICA for it. Well it took them two months to get the correct Idle Control Assembly. They put it on yesterday, and if anything the idle is higher. The mechanic told me that mustangs just idle high, BS. IT is idling around 1200 rpms at a stop, and some times it goes as high as 1700 rpms. Do you guys have an ideas on what it could be????? Do you guys have any more ideas on how to get my dealer to pull there heads out of there arses?????

Thanks in advance.

I would have the dealer run a diagnostics check and be taking a real hard look at the TPS (Throtle Positioning Sensor). A friend with a 99 Aniversary Editon Mustang had this item go bad and barely could keep his engine running...this sounds almost completly opposite of what is wrong with yours.

Typically on a N/A engine High idle is caused by a vacuum leak, I would suggest checking all your fittings and hoses for a start then go from there ....sorry i can't be more help !! Good Luck

Well I had to bust their balls again!!!

I called Ford Coustmer Service, and told them to keep the Bullitt until it is fixed. I drove it to the dealership, and when I showed up it was idling around 2000 RPMS.

I pulled it in to the service bay all p*ssed off, revving the engine. Well the Tech came out and looked at the idle while it was all jacked up and thinks I might need a need Computer. They got me a rental car, and I am not taking back the rental car until it is fixed once and for all....

I really hate busting their balls, they are good guys, but they need to get on the stick some more. I will tell you what, call Ford Custmer Service and the service department goes into a frenzy......

My service advisor got his ass chewed by the service manager and so on and so on. I told them, I am sorry,, but it is the only way to get action.

I had a 1995 Saleen s351 that the idle would intermittently go up to as much as 2500rpm,it drove me nuts!I called Saleen and they said that it was a common problem.I ended up getting a new computer after purchasing all of the parts that you mentioned and them some.At least your car is under warranty and the dealer has to fix it.I have never had any problems with the idle on my Bullitt or any other 4.6-hope that you find it quickly without too much hassle.I think the IACm was the correct call to start.Have a great day.

He checked the TPA while the car was idling high.... I thought he said it was saying half throttle.....so he thinks it is the computer keeping it open... I think you could be right that it needs a new throttle position sensor....

The service manager asked me what a bullitt is, and the service advisor asked me if the fuel door was stock or did I put it on...

I had a problem with high idle a couple months after I bought my BULLITT and the dealer could not figure it out. It turned out that the connection on the throtle postione sensor was not secure. I unplugged it and reatached it, and I have not had the problem since then. I hope yours will be this easy to fix.
