My hood scoop was chipping my paint on my hood. When looking on hood if you lift the right side corner ( looking at it from the front ) I could see the chipped paint. It was only 2 inch long by 1/8 inch wide but enough for me to notice and want fixed.

Last week I finally took it in to see if they would cover it with warranty. They said they have been having this problem since the 99+ models that have hood scoops. They fixed it for FREE since it was a defect that they had in there files. I dropped it off on Monday morning and I got it back Friday night.

They did say they have a new fastener for hood scoop and they also glue it to the hood so this will not happen again.

If any one else has had the problem I did they will fix it but it will take a full week to fix it. Since they have to take the hood scoop off and fix the scratch and repaint the hood. Plus they clean the hood up with all the rock chips I have had. I am now getting a bra for the car to stop the rock chips.

Its looks great, I am so happy I got it fixed.

227 has had lots of paint work. They did ot glue the hood scoop down though and I would not let them . I may need to take it off later and if they glue it down that will be a real pain. But I can say that it has not pealed under the scoop since the first of 4 trips to the body shop<G>.

Good luck.

Well, no hood scoop paint problems, but Bulletta has some very tiny "bubbles" on the hood that have popped open, chipping the paint off...hard to describe but they are tiny, but still...the paint has chipped. Just another one of those things....maybe someday I'll take her in....they do have a "WE OWE" sheet on Bulletta of things they have to fix that we noted the day we bought her....I'll work up my nerve to take her in...one of these day.

For those Bullittheads that would like to
prevent the hood scoop/hood paint problem
read "Paint protection under hood scoop
project finished". It is in this forum.
I have installed a custom made gasket that
goes between the scoop and the hood to
prevent paint wear and abrasion.

Yes they glued is hood scoop back one and used better bolts. The gluing part really does not bother me since I will never take the scoop off. I have though of replacing the hood total not sure to what yet.
