I Recently Bought Bullitt 4501. The Manual Says To Use 5 Quarts With Filter. I Had To Put In 6 Quarts To Reach The Full Mark. I Assume The Ford Manual Is Wrong?? Has Anyone Else Experienced The Same Problem? Maybe All Of You?

Vernon, I'm not sure why but mine takes 6 also to reach the full mark. Has since day one. Everyone else (including the shop manual)says 5 but maybe a few of the cars received a different oil pan or dip stick????? I don't care what people and manuals say, I put 6 to show full.

6 quarts for the truck engine. 5 quarts for the car engine. Must be a different dipstick. I think someone said this is a truck engine converted to automobile service. Of course my memory says that the 4.6 L engine was first installed in the Lincoln Town Car...

You don't want to overfill and get the oil in the pan into the bottom of the crankshaft for those putting in 6 quarts. I would make sure that 6 quarts isn't too much. I don't recall if they put a windage tray on this engine or not, that would help matters but don't over fill it, crank foams up the oil and causes problems you won't like.

I only put 5 quarts in mine.
