Well I gave my dad a call tonight.
I dont know if you all remember but, back in july i was run of the road by a drunk driver and scuffed my r/f rim pretty good. So I called my dad to see the cost of a (father works for ford dealership)replacement rim. 178.00 from the dealer. Not what I wanted to pay but went ahead and ordered it. A few days later I was told that they were on back order, no big deal I wasnt planning on going to VA till mid AUG well AUG rolled around and still on back order.. this is when I found out about the $850.00 package deal on a set of rims and tires. (dad found out about it)so I went through them and had the new rim and tire mounted on my car with in a week of ordering it. This is where it gets fishy. The dealer that I origanlay ordered the rim from were the ones to replace the damaged with the new. Well while swaping the rims out they damaged the already damaged rim to where it could not be used as a spair, as intialy inted. Here is the kicker They got the rim i ordered in about a month to a month and a half ago and now want me or my father to pay for it. RIGHT they way I see it it should be free sence they damaged the other one so bad that it couldnt be used anymore. My father boss( owners brother) told him today that he was responsable for the payment if i did not pay for it. So my dad and I agreed that his boss could blow smoke up his own A$$.
I told my father I would be more than happy to call his boss up and tell him I am not going to payfor it and neither is my father. My dad repleyd with you can if you want but he will just jump in your face about it( which he probably will) but he has to remeber I am not my father and do not work for him. So tonight I think I will call him and let him know that if he wants payment he can join the army and put in for a deployment to where I am and ask me face to face to where I will render him a payment of my foot going up his A$$ and kicking him right back to the states.
so if you made it through this what do you think
Remember I am writting this and am in a very bad mode sorry if the contents offend anyone

Bad,Bad,Bad,...Situation. I would just pay for the wheel. The wheel that you are having replaced is no good anyway. I know you were going to use it as a spare. It's looks like your fathers boss is a ASS if you don't pay for it,that will put your father in the middle of a bad situation.

I have to agree. Your father has to work there and it would be better in the long run to just eat the rim. Not good, but probably true.

Bummer on the rim though. I have a left rear that is scraped up.

Take care.

Sorry Guy--But don't be stupid. Jerk or not your Dad has to work there. For $178 it is not worth it. Pay for the rim and move on-life is too short. Just QUIETLY go to another Ford dealer for future work etc. Don't bad mouth around town-it will get back and hurt your dad. If you can afford a Bullitt then $178 willnot be putting you into bankruptcy-LET IT GO.

Good luck and I hope you make the right decision.

Bro1: I think there are two issues. First, you ordered the wheel so you owe the $$$ agreed upon for the wheel. Second, they damaged your property (old wheel) and the two of you will have to come to an agreement on the value of that damage. Just my .02

Tripleduck said it best. You ordered, you owe. Just make sure you take posession of your old one that they damaged and then deal with that seperately. It was only being replaced because it was scuffed. If it is now unuseable, they owe you.

My dad is telling me that his boss is trying to pull a fast one and that He is not going to pay for it and he doesnt want me to either. but for them do ask me to pay for it knowing that they turned a scuffed rim into an unusable rim just earks me. Well 175 isnt all that much but could be used for something else. We will see

I work at a dealer in the parts dept. I have ordered 4 for myself (the V6 looks great),2 for our body shop, 1 for another body shop, and 4 for another friend of mine for his race car. None of which were on backorder they all came in within 4 days of ordering. Also if it was truly on back order it could have been canceled!! I've only been in FORD parts for 14 years I know this procedure. I really shouldn't say this but employee cost should be around $130.90-$142.80 somebody is pulling somebodies chain or dipping in the kitty. What dept. does your Dad work in? You should be able to fix this with out paying for it if they are any kind of dealer at all. You may have to go as high as the Gen.Man. Then tell the parts manager where he can put HIS new wheel!!! That price is unbelievable!! If this would have happened in our parts dept. the manager would have said "son of a *****" and never said anything else. I guess I should be thankful for a good place to work with out a bunch of power trip idiots. Good luck let me know if I can help!!! Tony

I agree with Tony, it is nice to deal with reputable dealerships and not "power hungry & greedy ones". If the place you ordered the rim from was in fact reputable, they would have not made an issue of forcing you to buy the rim after they destroyed the old one. But, then again, you should have cancelled the order when you bought the other rims. It looks like you had plenty of time for that.

All in all, if you do find a dealership that treats you well (I did), then it may be worth it to pay them a little extra at times (as long as it is reasonable). But, if they treat you like cr*p and still charge excessively, then they get what they deserve.

I agree that you might want to protect your father's job in how you handle this with the dealership.

BTW, can't the dealership just return the rim, paying a small re-stocking fee and the shipping.

My dad has been with the company for 12 years and they just bought a new dealership about 2 years ago which was close to the hose so my dad was sales Mgr there. Well they bought a small lot in town about 6 months ago for all used cars, which was doing jack for business. so they asked my dad to take over that to get it up in running. So he is head of used car sales. The guy thats being an ass is the gen mgr who is the owners brother. ther severice and parts guys all are cool. they have done all the mods for my brother and I. If it doesnt get resolved by monday I think i will place a call to the owner.
