I was wondering if you could answer a question for me, I just added a K & N Filter to my Bullitt #5082 and removed the Air Silencer without adding length so 5082 is sucking air from under the hood now vice the wheel well. At http://www.partshopper.com/catalog/itemdisplay/421.html theres a note that states:

Note: Independent Dyno test have shown that on modular motors 2V & 4V, by just removing the stock air box, without adding length in front of the mass air meter on normally aspirated motors, you will lose H.P. and TORQUE.

This is contrary to what I read at mustangworld.com URL http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/intke.htm So I guess my question is do you think that I’m actually loosing H.P. now since I removed the Air Silencer and the engine is drawing air not from the wheel well, but from under the hood?

Ok, my thoughts on this. After numerous times to the track, I knew what the car was doing. I did what you did, put the K&N in and took out the silencer. The car felt better and more responsive. A trip back to the track confirmed this, picking up over 1 mph. Now, supposedly, the K&N isn't worth much and the silencer being out is bad...but my car got faster?????

I have since put the silencer in and ran it for a few days. I didn't notice much difference. If anything, as I said before, it felt faster without it. Most things I have read say removing it costs power and the logic behind those opinions makes sense. But for now, mine is out and I like it.

Well since I just took it out yesterday and haven't run the car yet, I'll give it a chance. I'm just wondering if I should invest in the MAC.

A couple of us Bullitts ran down to the dyno and tried some stuff out. The first run is with the snorkel and the second run is with out, the stock paper filter was used in both. They did not have a K&N to try out.
It is Bullitt From Heavens car.

Each car will react differently based on air requirements and temerature of engine and outside air when testing. The dyno is a really poor way to gauge this. When driving, the fans kick in and if the engine is drawing air form the engine compartment, cause MAF meter fluctuations and surging (again, not everyone in every situation will notice this). The best all around route is to pull air from the fenderwell in the most efficient manner possible. IMO, the Densecharger kit is the most sensible choice from a flow, temperature, and price standpoint.
