I was thinking about all the mods I want to do (3.73 gears, Steeda underdrive pulleys, Steeda timing adjuster, wheel spacers, two piece Behr rotors, and Paul's chip)and began to wonder if the chip is really needed. What exactly does a high performance chip do other than advance the timing and adjust the speedo for the gear change?

The only other things I've noticed with my AutoLogic chip is that the rpm limiter was increased 200 rpm's...from 6,200 to 6,400...a nice increase and I don't bump it anymore.
Also, my electric engine cooling fans come on much more often.
Not saying it's worth it necessarily, but those are a couple nice benefits.

I didn't see much of any benefit at the track, with my chip either. Right now I have it out, while running the O/R H-pipe,just in case it would get to lean. I am going to go with the 3.73s and might just go with the Steeda recalibration module. Car seems to be running real well with the O/R pipe and Steeda pulleys, and the MILs.
