Ed if I could give this a bigger thumbs up I would! What a great mix of cars out there too. I saw in one of your pics an amputee, do you know what he was driving? I think thats pretty cool. What brake set up do you go with?

The amputee was a wounded vet and he is from Miss and has a mach 1. but was renting one of the vettes out on the track. a very nice guy talked with him between a few sessions. he said his Mach is just about ready. I am using hawk pads with drilled and slotted rotors. I have the stainless brake lines and using high temp brake fluid. my brother has basicly the same set up but he went even higher on the fluid going with the mogul 600 temp fluid. I went with the 500 degree fluid in mine. had no brake issues with either car.

Which Hawk Pads and are you using Hawks drilled and slotted? I had HPS's on mine at RRR and they worked fine but I'm about to upgrade mine so I don't lose my brakes since the HPS's are basically a street pad. I may get a dedicated track pad. I've also read that the drilled rotors don't hold up to heat very well and can crack more easily then a slotted one, I assume no issues with yours though. Did you have the same setup at RRR? Great to see the Veteran out having fun at one of these events! Would have been even better to see his Mach 1!

no I am not using the hawk rotors and the pads are the HPS pads I believe but I cant remember. they were the ones I had on the car at RRR. I have not had any issues with the rotors but will go with the just the slotted next time... I know Brian uses the stock rotors on his car but I am not sure on the pads.. and I think if you get designated pads you will need designated rotors as well..

I'm running stock rotors, HPS pads, and the stock Ford high-performance brake fluid. Despite some hard braking, I haven't experienced brake pad fade since swapping out the OEM pads. As I learn to carry more speed and brake later I may need to upgrade, but as of now they've held up awesome. The 08's smaller rotor size and increased vehicle weight (as compared to the 01'), may require a more aggressive pad and/or modified rotors. Bill is probably the most knowledgeable person I know regarding performance of various compounds on the 08's. He was very pleased with the HP+ on his 08', however he reported increased brake noise and significantly greater brake dust. I'm fairly certain he tried EBC Yellows in the past with mixed results.

He has since moved up to the EBC Bluestuff's but he does have a larger brake kit. We've talked but before I drop a chunk of change on brakes I'm just getting everyones feed back. Never hurts to have too much information. :wink2:

If you choose to stick with a lower temp pad to retain noise-free operation and lack of dust, you might be able to get by with installation of brake cooling ducts. The cost is relatively low and they really seem to help abate brake fade. Hawk also has their relatively new High Performance Street Race Pads that seem to be targeting the gap between HPS and HP+ pads.
