I've got the JLT RAI. I installed it the way you should, and I popped the hood the other day and noticed that it has rubbed thru the hood blanket...which has rubbed the paint off of the JLT... a spot about the size of a quarter.

As you can imagine, I wasn't too thrilled about that.

A couple questions:

Will removing the hood blanket be "bad"? (will engine heat distort the hood/paint on the exterior?)

Is there a "CAI" that WILL NOT rub on the hood, hood blanket, or anywhere else that it shouldn't?

Any and all info/help is appreciated.

Jeff removed my hood blanket and no problems except for the places where they painted over the tape. Jeff just painted the tape with true blue and it was better but we plan to repaint at a later date. No mechanical issues though.

I've had my hood blanket off my car for almost 2 years now. I love it. it makes the under hood look better and you can hear the engine roar better inside the car. It was allot quieter before.

lol

Alrighty.. so that is an option.

..but just for kicks, aside from the JLT, is there a close runner-up?

What we did was remove the JLT and replace it with a Vortech supercharger.
