Golf4283, chirping means laying rubber when upshifting. There's a distinctive 'chirp' that you hear when your wheels spin about 1/2 turn as you hammer the next gear. You need to shift really fast.

I don't ever flat shift. I still have the stock shifter and I don't jam up against the stops. My other daily driver is a manual transmission, too. I'm pretty comfortable with the Bullitt. Somehow the shifts just seem to drop in place.

If anyone has any upshifting, downshifting (Heel/Toe) or taking off from a standstill (best rpm to let the cluth out with out spinning the wheels....) tips/tricks to offer, I would be very interested in "applying" them

Thanks!

DAVE

Actually, power shifting (a.k.a. flat shifting) isn't all that bad IF you make the gear clean. The tires take the brunt of it. A driveline can take a fair amount of abuse if built well and properly maintained.

It's when you miss the gear partially and hack off some gear teeth or jam your shift forks into pretzels or miss altogether and rev out to 6 or 7 grand that the trouble comes after you.
