Just did the first oil change on my HG 2094, car has 564.3 miles and I switched it over to Mobil 1 oil and Mobil 1 filter. While I was under there, I drained the transmission and refilled it Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. Oil change was easy, other than the oil filter having been put on by king kong at the factory! Transmission was a pain in the butt, hard to get to the fill hole, and a messy process as my pump did not screw onto the Mobil 1 bottle. Only other mods so far are the lower grille inserts, and a shorty antenna. Will get some pics up soon.

Welcome to the site Andy!
Welcome to IMBOC! I need to do my first service too. I am just under 3,000 miles. Some people do the first one earlier, but I am just sticking to the every 3,000 miles plan.

I hope you found the updated fill level for the Tremec 3650,Which is what you have. They changed it to UNDER the fill plug level as at the fill level like most will cause shifting issues.
Owners manual says 3.2 quarts for the Tremec, which is what I put in. Is this the right amount? Thanks in advance for any info.
Welcome to the club

I changed to synthetic at 500 miles also. I used the ford as I get free oil changes here. Its good to do if you keep low miles like me. Charlie
I would have not went to full synthetic that early the parts need to wear in hope it works for you. I do intend to go synthetic but not until after 5-6K miles on the car.

From p.268 of the Owners Manual.pdf:

Use of a non-approved automatic transmission fluid may cause internal transmission component damage and void the warranty.

Do not use supplemental transmission fluid additives, treatments or cleaning agents. The use of these materials may affect transmission operation and result in damage to internal transmission components.

Checking and adding manual transmission fluid (if equipped)

1. Clean the filler plug.
2. Remove the filler plug and inspect the fluid level.
3. Note: There are two different manual transmissions used in this vehicle and they have different fluid levels.
For vehicles equipped with a V6 engine the correct manual transmission fill level is at the lower edge of the filler hole.

For vehicles equipped with a V8 engine the correct manual transmission fill level is 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) below the edge of the filler hole.

Unfortunately, the Tremac 3650 Manual.pdf says fill to the lower edge of the filler hole and is in error.

Good post Charlie. It is very likley that putting sythetic oil in the transmission would void the transmission warranty. These transmissions are touchy enough that putting other fluid than is recommended is asking for trouble.

The Bullitt Mustang was Built by Ford and I will take it to them per their Guidelines.

But that is just me.

I completed 38's first service today also! It was really easy and I took lots of pictures to help me update the archive. By the way golkhl2094 is right the factory must have had a strongman competition to decide who got to put the oil filters on! If you do your own first oil change make sure you get a good filter wrench!

By the way added all the required maintenance to the archive under the Bullitt Maintenance tab! I have big plans for that section as time permits!
Keep some notes on that error in the manuals- it could come in handy if you have a warranty dispute.
Welcome! Please do tell more about the shorty antenna mod! Interesting.
Did oil change yesterday at 800 miles.and added jba shortys in silver. already have hurst installed
How did the install go on the headers? Details on how she runs!

So which one are you taking to be correct?
So what is the actual amount of fluid needed to correctly fill the Tremec 3650? The owners maual says 3.2 quarts, and that is what I went with. Also wondering how my waranty can be voided by using Mobil 1 ATF, as it is Mercon V, and that is also what the owners manual calls for. Thanks in advance for the info.
