I received my shifter by UPS today and installed it tonight. After driving the Bullitt with the new shifter, the difference is like night and day. The OEM shifter was like a stick in a mud bucket. The Steeda reminds me of my old 4-speeds. They had a little road noise too, but its well worth the difference in performance. The pictures in the "Mod" postings were helpful.

How much more road noise is transmitted. I have the sifter and plan on installing it tomorrow.

It's not bad at all. If you turn off your radio and wind up the trany you can hear a bit of gear whine. Sounds kinda good to me. You can also hear the click from gear to gear which also sounds good. You'll love it.

Did you mount the handle on the upper or lower holes. I had mine in the upper holes but hated it. I put them on the lower ones and it is just perfect now!

Has anyone had any experience with Ford balking at changing the shifter for warranty issues? Or is this a non-issue in that it is relatively easy to change back to the OEM version before going to the shop.

What is the difference between the Tri-Ax and the MGW shifters?

The shifter is very easy to change out. It takes about an hour to do. There is no visable difference as far as how it goes in vs the stock. In other words if you put the oem shifter back you would never know it had been changed out.

don, the MGW is a shifter "handle" and everyone that's used it seems to be happy with the new shifter position.
the Tri-Ax is a completely new shifter. you remove EVERYTHING down into the tranny. it's spring loaded and a completely different feel AND position vs. just a new position with the MGW!
hope that helps a little

Thanks for the info. Great stuff as usual. Looks like my first mod will be the Tri-Ax.
