I love my country. The region where I live is the 2nd largest in Switzerland in terms of forest area. Almost 46% is occupied by forest. Wood is used for many things. What is that stacked so high ? It's railway sleepers. Established since 1897, the company, which is located a few miles from my home, is the only company on the Swiss market to manufacture railway sleepers. About 100'000 pieces are produced every year since 1905. The idea of the founder of the sawmill to set up in the region was to get closer to the source material, i.e. hardwood.Beautiful countryside!! Great pictures too! What is that stacked so high? I live in timberland too. Sawmills making pallets for industry and wood chips for paper industry.
Beautiful Bullitt Mustang too!
The Corbat family is friend of me, father and son 😉Interesting read. I checked out Corbat Site and here in the USA we refer to those stacked wooden pieces as cross ties. What really threw me off was the plates used on the ends to inhibit stress cracks. Similar plates are used to manufacture building truss here. Thanks for posting the extra pictures.
