Cancelled - Kentucky Speedway "Drive the Track Day" Nov 6th

Kentucky Speedway is having "Drive the track day". Here is the info:
Spend $40 in there gift shop and get 3 laps on the 1.5 mile track speeds up to 60 to 70 mph (or more!) Kentucky Speedway Nov. 6th

Meet at I-75/I-71 southbound rest stop at 9:30 AM Sat Nov 6th if you want to follow me there. We usually get about 20 or more cars together.

KEEP IN MIND THIS NOT A TRI-STATE MUSTANG FORD CLUB EVENT

Also keep in mind if you car is damaged on the track it is not covered by your insurance company. You will have to sign a waiver !

Also one last item make sure your tires (I would suggest having tires that are newer than five years old!) are properly inflated and your car is in great running condition.

Info:

Drive the Track Sale Set for Nov. 610/8/2010
SPARTA, KY. - Kentucky Speedway will offer race fans great merchandise deals, the opportunity to see 2011 facility enhancements in progress and the chance to drive their own vehicles on the venue’s 1.5-mile tri-oval racetrack on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., during then popular “Drive the Track Sale.”

Shoppers who make a minimum $40 gift shop purchase will enjoy the unique experience of driving three paced laps around the track at speeds ranging from 60 mph to 70 mph (or much more if based on our past experiences!).

The gift shop will be located in the speedway Infield Media Center for the sale where visitors will receive great merchandise deals on top NASCAR driver apparel as well as a wide variety of Kentucky Speedway branded casual apparel including outerwear.

The sale will take place five days after 2011 season ticket plans go on sale to the public and a plan purchase will qualify shoppers to drive laps.

The temperature looks cold enough to keep me from running the track on Saturday. I'll still go, but my SUMMER performance tires won't stick too well at 30 degrees!

As far as meeting on Saturday morning and driving together down to Kentucky Speedway, this is being cancelled, due to the cold weather. When temperatures go below 45 degrees or so, tire traction is greatly reduced, especially for summer performance tires like I have on both of my Mustangs. They are calling for the low on Saturday morning to be 28 degrees, with a high of 45 degrees later in the day. Not sure what Kentucky Speedway will do, but you can check with them on your own, if you want do still drive the track, assuming they will still have it.

Sorry gang, but that can happen in November
