No, the M3's in WC are not V8s. The V8 isn't even a euro M3 engine. The V8 is a 4L from the M5. That's where the controversy in ALMS comes from. They (BMW) mixed engines and chassis to make competitive car.

Except for the fact that the NSX was never sold with a Supercharger. PD didn't even need the SC to win. Two or three years ago he raced the same car without the forced induction and won the c'ship. I do not believe it is available in the US, thus it's a euro car. The "BMW M3 V8" appears to be popular in the GT class of American Le Mans Series. The engine may have been derived from the M5's V8, but appears to be quite a bit modified (just like the 650 HP V8 in the C5-R is "based" on the LS1, it is radically different (and quite a bit bigger to compete with the Vipers and Saleen S7-R)).
