I have confirmed all of my bookings along the way so we are set now Now I just have to figure out what I want to do on the way back.

Thinking we may head up through Zion National park and Yellowstone. Considering how far we will have driven already that is only roughly 230 miles out of our way so why not see another part of the country that we have never driven through before.

I am gonna need a vacation from my vacation!!!!!

You gotta hit Monument Valley too if you're going back thru Utah. I may try to do it again to get another pic with 810 this time.

That is a great idea Charles!

I will have to look at my map and see how that works for us.

Very True, Jeff.

I drove the entire Rt. 66 last Sept. I was going to go back to Illinois via:
Grand Canyon, Monument Valley (AZ), Mesa Verde (CO); and Arches (UT).

BUT...I made a side trip to take my "wingman" back home from Vegas to Tucson, AZ.
I was just too worn out after the 5 days from Chicago to LA and added 3 days in Vegas then diverted to Tucson to go back. I wish I had....but at the time I was pooped out! I took 3 days getting back to Northern Illinois. I wish you luck in your travels!!!!!

I am planning on taking an entire week for the trip back home so I am hoping it will not be that bad. We shall see.

If I leave Chino hills on Sunday June 3rd we do not have to be home until the 10th which gives us seven full days I think we can easily visit these spots along the way. So breakfast with the gang on the 3rd and then hit the road right after that.

This is gonna be fun!!!!

 I am looking foward to seeing you there Mark! I would have made the texas shootout this year but I will be in Seattle for a week in April so between Seattle and the LL tour my vacay is gonna be maxed out.

I will be joining the group somewhere after, in or around Springfield Illinois as I hate driving the Bullitt in Chicago.

We plan on making it a last chance tour for us. Being in the service for 20 years we were stationed many places and have many friend across the country. After the event on Sunday 3 June (which happens to be our 45 anniv.) we will visit friends that live across the country and haven't seen in many years.

Oxnard, Ca. for about a day
Modesto, Ca. for 2 days
Oakland, Ca. for a relative of the wife's
San Fransicio, Ca. No reason except to drive the route and take the Bullit back to it ancestry place.
Sacremento, Ca. for 2 days
Salt Lake City, Ut. for 1 day
Denver, Co. for 3-4 days
Omaha, Ne for 2 days
Arklacity, Ks 1 day
Fort Worth, Tx. 3-4 days
Shreveport, La. 2 days
Northern Mississippi for 1 day

and then home
Should be on the road for almost a month.
Really looking forward to the trip

I'm so sorry you have to visit Modesto and Oakland (please don't tell the relatives I said that ), but enjoy San Francisco and Sacramento!

Sounds like one hell of a trip!

Modesto....
gack....I left there in 1991 to move to Atlanta...

My old subdivision (new at the time) is now pretty near a slum....

Gotta be family for you to be going there. There is some great Mexican food and Taco trucks there however....and black velvet Jesus paintings on the street corners...

Too early for Graffitti Night though...usually in August....about the best event in Modesto.

I am planning on driving down and meeting the group enroute. By then I should be living in the Madison Wisconsin area so I can shoot stright down and meet up with the gang.

Yeah Driving the Bullitt in Chicago sucks and the state doubles all of the toll fees so they can take that and shove it I am not going to pay to drive on crappy roads.

We will be there from April 1 though April 6'th I was hoping to go to Mt Rainier but it appears that it is still the winter season there and it requires all cars to have chains if they are going into the park.

Let me know what is going on then as we would be interested. If nothing else dinner would be great!

I am surprised and disappointed on one hand...
but not surprised on another.

Modesto I understand is like one of the highest crime areas of the nation now...and there were some very nice cars that came down for the event.
It used to draw hot rods from all over the western states, and was literally a west coast version of Woodward.

Too bad....cuz ya...some great memories...

A few years ago I drove past my old house. Granted it is now 23 years old, but, where the neighborhood was originally inhabited with commuters and kept up very nice, the neighborhood is now unkempt and I felt compelled to get out of there quickly.
