Like this lady, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for beagles...

IMBOC members hate beagles?

Really?

No one said they "hate" beagles, JB. I myself though, don't care for the "hound group."
They didn't have to. The silence said it all. Oh well, here's one that's hard to hate.

Love it! My Dayzee Mae would have died if I hadn't rushed her to the vet the other day as she had gotten into 2 plastic liquid vials of Bill's albuterol for his nebulizer for COPD. I saw her throwing up so much and saw the empty vials and rushed her to the vet. They had to take blood work several times, liquid IVs, vitamin K, and monitor her for 24 hours. I had to take her to the emergency clinic for overnight observation as her blood pressure and heart rate wouldn't stay down. I got her back after 27 hours and she seems fine. Maybe she will have a heart condition later on in life they said. I am a lot poorer today as the total vet bills came to over $1,600! She is 8 months old today!

Hope you get lucky and that's the last major vet bill she has while living a very long happy life.:smile2:

That's scary! Hope she will be ok now. I think you've dealt with enough.

I have to take our maltese (Lilly) to the vet tomorrow. We found some lumps on her belly.

The vet said her mammaries are full of tumors. He drew some fluid from 2 of the larger ones and analyzed it himself. He didn't think it looked cancerous. He told me that it is actually not uncommon for dogs that have never been spayed to develop these tumors later in life.

He also said the only way to be sure would be to go to a specialist and have a couple removed and sent out to a lab to be fully analyzed. The only way to remove all the tumors would be to remove the full mammary tract on both sides. He said that is a very difficult surgery and is very hard on the dog. It would be hard to tell how well she would recover from it. He also said the surgery would be in the thousands of dollars.

We started reading about this and talking to some other people. Some say their dog lived a long time with these tumors. Others say to try Turmeric. Some people reported the tumors shrinking, or at least not spreading, after putting their dog on turmeric. Since these don't bother her at all and the vet didn't think they are cancerous, we decided to try the turmeric for awhile. Hoping for the best.

Dayzee Mae

Well, when I got my puppy who is now 9 months old, the seller told me that she was part miniature poodle and cavalier king charles. I begged to differ with her about the cavalier part as I dd not see any resemblance to a cavalier as I have one - Roxie Rae.

So I sent for a genetic testing kit to be sure as I was curious. Got it back in 10 days. Dayzee has NO Cavalier King Charles spaniel in her at all, as I figured.
She is:
37.5% bichon frise
37.5% miniature poodle
25% yorkshire terrier

I am glad to do the testing (around $70) so I know what Dayzee is made up of for sure! :)

I hate it when breeders/sellers lie about the puppy. At this point, I guess it doesn't matter. She's your baby!

Hope you're doing ok!

Sam loves her cats. All 200 of them. But this one's special.

Hey, cats are special too. Our cat is at the Vet right now...spending our retirement money on tests. Hope what's wrong can be treated...they are members of the family. We lost his brother last August...I don't want to lose him too. He's 10.. Considering our ages, he's probably our last pet. Things would get awfully lonely here without Garfield...
