this is a copy of the e-mail I sent to Mr. Hyde on the decal.... please, we all need to e-mail him and if there is no suitable response , the go higher up. This is an important issue for us and our cars for the future. We need to protect our cars and the investment that we have in them from those that would attempt to clone gts and pass them off as real bullitts. I love My bullitt as she is, I don't need the ID to prove to ME that she is real but I also am realistic to know that in the future there may be 8000 bullitts and only a production of 6-6.5k..,.
sorry for the length, it is as follows
Hello Mr. Hyde,
By now I'm sure you have received many complaints about the way the 2001 Mustang GT Bullitt serial number was applied to the car and the type of I.D. that it was..(sticker vs metal tag like the old shelbies maybe) I have owned a new ford every other year, anything fom F-150 's , to Taurus's, to dozens of Mustangs(beginning with a 70 boss 302...)and just about any model in between. As you can see I am a Ford man thru and thru. I have to say I never thought I would buy a 28k mustang...no matter what kind it was, but then the BULLITT came along and I am the proud owner of DHG 1994. No car is made perfect...I understand that. I also understand That FORDS advertising company is responsable for getting people into the showrooms to buy cars. It is also fords job, in my opinion, to follow thru on that with QCP /CSI, thru correcting of problems and service when required. This may be a little issue but I think it will represent to us, the buyers, just how committed FORD is to customer service/ satisfaction. I think the problems with the sticker are too much to be ignored. One of the promotional pitches was the "unique serialization" of the Bullitt. With the current sticker, that serialization is easily destroyed. We need a genuine Ford authorized serial number plate (metal) that would replace the sticker. I do not feel that is too much to ask after spending the money that we did on the cars we all bought. The little things that go wrong with a car should be attended to, and repaired at, the dealer thru their service, department , but this issue needs to be corrected at a corporate level... the dealers simply do not care nor are they responsable for decals .I think I have a solution... One way for you to do it would be issue metal tags, same premise as the decals, oval with bullitt / bullit serial #, possably to be rivited on or with an adhesive backing. Go thru your / FORD records...when the car is RDR'd you have the cars vin #, the customers name , address etc....why not compile a list from these records and send the plate along with a cover letter to the customer for him or her to attach themselves ? I can't think of a single BULLITT owner that would object. Great public relations at a time when FORD desperately needs better customer satisfaction dont you think?
I feel I can say without hesitation or contradiction that all of us that have purchased a Bullitt love the car , love the image, love the feeling we get when we drive her. Sure some have quality/ build issues, sure we thought we were getting a little more horsepower, but none the less we have remained happy. I think all BULLITT owners are due something that is in line with the cars image and stature. Please make that a reality. If there is anything we ,as a group ( bullittheads) or I, as an individual can do , please feel free to contact me or go to our website... www.bullittclub.com
Thanks for your time and help
