Can anyone provide some advice on what to look for when shopping air compressors; CFM, PSI, HP, etc? Looking for something to use around the house and garage. Thanks.

For the money, you can't go wrong with a Campbell/Hausfield 5 horsepower with a 20 gallon tank. I bought one 10 years ago and it's perfect for around the garage. They're around $250-$300 at Wal*Mart.

The key to any compressor is using a quality air tool. I prefer Ingersoll-Rand as far as impact guns and air ratchets go.

Just make sure that it can power all the tools you will want. For example, I use mine to spray my wooden fence. It has to have the power to give the spray quality I need for over 150 ft of hose.

Home Depot has a Husky (really a CH) upright 26 gallon 5 horsepower oiler for like $370. If space is a concern, you might want to look into it.
