Love my new Bullitt

1399 Views 23 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  Bullitt_Buyer
My husband surprised me and bought me a new Bullitt, DHG #4930 for my 33rd birthday. I loooooooove this car. I immediately drove 5 hours north (much to my husband's chagrin)to Washington DC to break in my Bullitt. I have never had so much fun driving a car - and showing it off to some friends. I am on a mission to find another Bullitt on the road. Where are all you Bullittheads???????? (does anyone besides me actually drive their Bullitt?)

Welcome Christine and Pete, it is good to have you a part of our club.
I've gotten a lot of laughs as to who the car really belongs to. But Steve does ask my permission to drive it every day. I like looking at it parked outside and I check on it frequently during the evening, just to make sure it's okay. Is anyone else this nuts about their car or am I a bit unusual? If I could,I would buy another one, so he could have his very own Bullitt.

BTW Jimmy Ray, See More Johnson is kindof a funky name of a place to live, especially spelled that way.

I'm glad you got sense of humor you don't know how I was sweating it out that I steped over the line....
Life is good, to own a legend. I check on 1007 all the time. Wait until it drives you nuts wiping finger prints. And all the questions you get asked about it are so much fun. Unless some less informed nut trys to tell you ford made red and silver Bullitts also. then getts pissed when you correct his mistake.
Jimmy Ray,

When my husband bought my Bullitt, he had to show the dealer where they were numbered. Fortunately, he (the dealer) wasn't one of those idiots who think they know it all and spout a steady stream of inaccurate information they try to fob off as gospel truth.

BTW, Jimmy Ray, I do have a great sense of humor.

Welcome Christine! It's great to have another female Bullitt owner on the forum. I've had #2832 for a little over a month now. These cars are the BEST!!
Welcome, Bullitt_Buyer, you have just made about 5600 new friends! (Or was that 5609?!) We don't know what the final count is, but the last Bullitt known to man (or woman) has already rolled off the assembly line. Congratulations, you now own a contemporary classic muscle car! Is this cool or what!?
Tracy,
It's good to see there's another female Bullitt owner out there. It does seem like it's more of a man's car but sometime we women feel the need for speed too!

My husband is from Wisconsin too. Ever hear of a little town called Viroqua?

I have yet to see any other Bullitts on the road but mine. I had a boy and his father drive by me in traffic one time and point and smile at it but other than that i dont think anyone knows about it.

I guess I'll address this one. YES!!! The next best thing to driving it are the regular checks on it in the driveway.

Hey Escrotumus, I live over here in Arlington and have been looking for other Bullitts as well. There are a couple in Woodbridge and a few up in Maryland as well. I'd like to try and get a few/all of us together some night. Interested?
Kurt,

Let me know when ya'll get together. I lived in DC for 3 years and make frequent trips back. Would love to take my Bullitt for a cruise and get to know some other proud Bullitt owners.

I'll keep you posted. What part of NC are you in? I was just down in Jacksonville and I swear the only cars I saw down there were Mustangs, Camaros, and TAs! BUT, not one other Bullitt!
Kurt,

We live approximately 1 1/2 hours southeast of Raleigh. We're basically out in the middle of nowhere, hoping to be transferred back to DC in a year.

Hey, you just about summed up all the cars around here. I would love to see another Bullitt on the road. On my trip to DC I was sure I'd see another Bullitt, but there was none to be found. I did get a lot of stares at the car. Our local Ford dealership has a black Bullitt in the showroom and I drive by almost every day to see if it's still there. Would love to buy it so my husband could have his very own Bullitt. Of course, that's out of the question. Anyways, I'm a little partial to DHG. A bit of nostalgia, I guess.

I hear ya about all the stares. When I was coming back from NC I had a couple of cars drive past me, then slow back down and stare at the calipers, look up at me, then stare down at the calipers again. One was a group of girls in a Stratus and before I realized it they were trying to race me. We had just pulled onto this longgg entrance to the highway, so I downshifted into second, nailed it and screamed past them of course getting a little bark in third just to show them who was boss! They had no chance against #3272! They were laughing as was I, but could tell they were very fond of the Bullitt.
