Newest update on the Mach 1 for those interested: I've been 'communicating' via post with Team Mustang over at Corral.net - forums-Team Mustang forum--please feel free to visit but you must promisie to return home. While staying within company guidelines we finally got Matt (of Team Mustang) mad enough at us to finally give up some more facts. In doing so he remined us of budgets, channels etc. He also put us in our place when pointing out that the Mach 1 is a 'special feature car' and is not nor will it replace the Cobra--it will not be faster nor more powerful than the Cobra. The 4.6 dohc engine is not the Cobra engine-it has the same pistons and in the manual car will have a forged crank (auto car limited to 6250 rpms and thus a steel crank) nor will the Mach 1 engine get the manly connecting rods the cobra engine has. Matt clearly points out that Ford (not team mustang but the powers that be and that includes SVT) has determined that the Mach 1 is being positioned between the GT and Cobra--it will not be a live axle Cobra. Still a great car but do not expect 320 hp from it.

last word I got-from a guy who has been right all the way so far is: undetermined but in the area of $28,500 give or take $495. They want it under $29,000 where the 01 Cobra sat but it will not be under by much; bullitt was $27,000plus (US) and the Mach will be more expensive by at least $1,000 to $1,500 (US). Ford is saving some money on the 'non-cobra' engine but having to spend more on the shaker assembly, differetn hood etc that the Mach 1 is close but not quite original cobra prices.
