Recently I have been reading about keeping your MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) clean. Many of us have upgraded our CAI's with either Green Filter, K&N or other filters. These filters use Oil as a medium on the cotton filter to prevent dirt from entering the engine. However, many of us are in such a hurry to get the car back on the road, we do not let the Oil drip off if we over oil it. Over time your MAF will get dirty from this.

So far I have found CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner (Advance Autoparts) and Wurth SW Contact Cleaner (High end autoparts stores, and Internet but with costly shipping). These brands are not supposed to leave any residue on the MAF nor harm them. Other cleaners (Brake cleaner, many Electrical contact cleaners, etc) may affect the plastic parts/housing on the MAF.

A dirty MAF can cause hesitation, rough running, thrown codes, etc. and reduce engine life. Food for thought.

CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner will work as well - will not harm plastics or any of the epoxies used in electrical parts, doesn't leave a residue, etc.

Probably the same stuff, with a different label on it.

They make good products.

Use Everclear!!! Yeah, the drinkable kind.

If it's good enough to clean instruments in a Nuclear power plant..it'll work just fine on a MAF.
