Calling all Mustang enthusiasts of the IMBOC!
The new Ford Performance Group and Ford Racing would like to invite members of the IMBOC to participate in a Mustang car corral and other special activities planned during the Mitty/Mustang Challenge Weekend, May 2-4 at Road Atlanta.
The event will include the inaugural race in the all-new Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup, a series featuring the FR500S. Also running that weekend will be up to 500 vintage race cars including classic Ford-powered race cars (the Mitty's featured marque this year is Ford). Among the classic Fords doing battle in the Historic Sports Racer run groups, Saturday will showcase the debut of the 2008 FR500S Mustang in the first race of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup.
To help celebrate this historic event, the Ford Performance Group has arranged for the "Ford Performance Mustang Corral" for you to park in over the entire weekend -- Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is also the opportunity for you to participate in a lunchtime parade lap on the Road Atlanta race course (limited to 100 cars per day). Plus the first 200 cars to register for inclusion in the Ford Performance Mustang Corral will receive a special Ford Racing dash plaque commemorating this special event.
What's more, media and club officials will be asked to join us in selecting the best of each generation of Mustang in the corral to recognize the owner whose car most truly captured or retained the "Spirit of Ford Performance" from their particular production era. These cars can receive special media coverage and will represent the Mustang brand in a special pre-race parade lap just before the Mustang Challenge season opener. Finally, we'll ask the club to select the car best representing it and its members to serve as the official parade car for the Mustang Challenge race on Saturday.
Other planned activities for MCA members participating in our special Ford Performance Mustang Corral include:
  • Access to the Mitty vintage racing and Mustang Challenge pits
  • Autograph session with Bob Bondurant and other Ford Racing celebrities
  • Free autocrossing in Mazda MX-5s Miatas
  • Manufacturers midway with over 40 vendors, including a portable chassis dyno for dyno tests
  • Famous Ford Racing cars on display
  • A swap meet area and classic motorcycle display
  • Free slot-car racing and dart tournament
We'd like to get as many of the MCA's Atlanta and other Southeast region members as possible to participate. Again, the Ford Performance Mustang Corral will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Mustang owners wishing to join us at this special event are asked to visit www.grmspeedfest.com for additional event and ticket information. Once at the track entrance, club members will simply tell the track rep that they are with the car corral and will be directed to the dedicated Mustang Corral display area and tent. There, they will have a chance to mingle, tour the pits, meet Bob Bondurant and other Ford Racing celebrities, and get the chance to participate in an on-track parade lap each day at lunchtime, as well as take part in all of the other activities mentioned above -- including the weekend full of racing action, right on up to the history making, first-ever Mustang Challenge race on Saturday.
Please contact Andrew Casselberry ([email protected] or 1-313-248-1144) of the Ford Performance Group to reserve your spot or if you have any questions.
