Hello Gang,

I received a reply from Mr. Hyde concerning the issue of the ID plates. He replied that Ford will be sending clear lables to Bullitt owners. I know it's not what some may want to hear but it's a response nonetheless and I felt honored that he took the time out to even reply to my e-mail knowing that he must receive hundreds a day.

All he said in response to the ID sticker that we already have was that Ford would be sending us owners a clear one I assume to cover up the existing one. Nothing else was mentioned, but then again I didn't ask. If I can, I'll try to cut and paste my e-mail exchange but me, my wife and daughter are getting ready for a trip to Euro-Disney so time is limited. I say we as a club decided on our own and distribute it to all current and future Bullitt owners. Maybe something along the lines of Saleen or Roush. Just a suggestion as it seems like the cover which was previously mentioned may be all that we will get officially from Ford.

When I bought my 99 I received a nice book on the history of the Mustang....very nice..I also received 3 CDs with music from the 60s, 70s and 80s...I still listen to them....

So far my sticker is doing good.....if it goes I always have the window sticker!!!

Here is Mr.Art Hyde's reply in full.

Thank you. We will be sending a clear label to Bullitt owners to protect their labels.
I too would like to sell Mustang in Europe and also do a RHD version. The inhibitor to doing this is Ford Europe who are convinced it would never sell. Anything you can do to make clear there is demand would be appreciated.

See? That's why I created a "Europe" section for the regional stuff. You now have the job of getting Mustang for sale in Europe (Art said so), you'd better get hopping!

DHG 1302, i really enjoyec that "package" i got from Ford with my 99 GT! the book was very cool and the CD's had great songs but they were of poor(almost mono) stereo quality! the funny thing is that when i opened my box,..only 2 of the 3 CD's had been put into the gift and i called and mailed Ford and kept asking them to please send me the 3rd CD they had promised. they kept saying they would....but(this may come as a shock) THEY NEVER DID!!
a nice mustang key ring was included too!!

personally ,I think thats a cheap way to treat the people that purchased a 28k car..
what about the sticker if it has been ruined already? are we going to get a new one of those so we can put the ''clear'' over it?
I don't get it...ford spends millions to get people in to buy a car with all the emphasis on customer satisfaction, job#1 etc. but offer's this shi* as a solution??? Maybe they should do as "THE ROCK" often suggests...take that clear overlay, put it nicely in their hands, take a good long look at how much their csi/QCP is dropping and then shove it straight up their... well you know the rest.

jim, don't feel all alone there with the "old guy" factor. my very 1st stereo(christmas present from parents) had an 8 track player in it and my brother (4 years older) had a reel to reel when i was growing up!

I understand being pissed if your sticker wore away, but as far as people being mad at not getting any extra's mailed to them, I just don't get it. I mean, I bought my Bullitt because I wanted the car. And I am very glad I did. I never expected to get any bonus things in the mail. If I did, that would be great. But it is not something I consider necessary to be happy with my car. Okay, the Bullitt was my first car, so I don't have any previous experience to use as precedence, so nothing got my hopes up. But if you knew from the start you wouldn't be getting CD's in the mail, would that have deterred any of you from buying?

What's than mean, Arthur, just something to put over an existing sticker?

That won't help the folks whose numbers are already wiped away!

Exactly! I just posted a discussion under "Mechanical Issues" yesterday. Mine is damaged now. I don't want to cover up a sticker that doesn't look right.

Who's to say that the chemicals used in the adhesive won't deteriorate the ink anyway. I just don't understand why something that is important as this (to us owners) is to use a band-aid solution to fix this problem. I'm a computer engineer and, over the years, I've found that band-aid solutions NEVER hold up. Sometimes you've got to face-up to the time and effort a real fix will take - and do it!

In the long run only a different designed badge/emblem/sticker will fix this. In the short run (like until the warranty expires) will a cheap cover fix this. Have they heard of engine heat? How can a sticker over a sticker ever stand up over time?

I think we all should concentrate our efforts on letting Ford know WE WANT THIS FIXED! I've been told that Art Hyde's e-mail is [email protected] I say we all begin letting him know how we feel - I am.

What about the guys who's labels are already rubbing or rubbed off? I thin MGW needs to make an approbriate plate for us to mount somewhere. And if production costs are an issue I would be willing to absorb much of the cost myself!!

The sticker should have been inside the car, like on the dash or console. A metal plate should have gone under the hood. But remember most of the low production musclecars, had there true identity hidden in the VIN numbers.

I just sent Mr Hyde a nice long email not only about the sticker but also the quality or lack of it in these cars and the need for customer loyalty. Thanx Havgun #1676

I THINK WE ARE OVER LOOKING SOMETHING HERE!!!!! CAN YOU SAY "WARRANTY" "BUMPER TO BUMPER" "36K"..... JUST GO BACK TO THE DEALER AND TELL THEM YOUR STICKER IS "BROKEN!!!" FIX IT OR REPLACE IT! THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY AND THE STICKER TOO!!!!!

IMHO I think we are bitching at the wrong person.Instead of complanning to Mr. Hyde,we need to be sending emails to the boss man.As long as we bitch to Art it will stay in his department, and the big guy won't know a thing about our concerns. I for one don't need his little piece of tape to protect my number,I've done it the same way we do on aircraft.

EXACTLY twoponys!!! I was thinking of sending something to J.Mays himself since he was behind this from the get go. If this car is as special as Hyde says it is then why are they being so tight about giving us something that will last? As far as buying it for the car, not the goodies, as bullittbill said earlier we did. Ford has been saying how collectible this car will be in a few years and all they do is a sticker?? Come on you can't be happy about that.
