Has anyone seen this car? They have taken some of the best on our Bullitts and added a 4 cam 4.6l. If Ford builds this I'm going to feel slighted since all the engine mods to our cars only added 5 hp. And what of the Cobra guys-there goes their exclusive engine. Is this what the Bullitt should have been?

That is true the 4.6 4V will no longer be exclusive to the Cobra, but 2002 Mach 1 owners will have to pay about as much as I paid for my 01 snake. I am glad they are building the Mach 1, maybe the Boss 302 and also the Bullitt. It would have been really cool had the Bullitt gotten the DOHC engine as well.

Are you sure they are building it. I am almost hesitated on the Bullitt when I heard about it, (shaker hood and all) but then went for the Bullitt first time I saw it. In this economy I would be real surprised if they come out with anything like that real soon. They still haven't sold all the Bullitts and they were only a few thousand more for a lot more car........
............By the way this is my first new car, and my FIRST Ford (Glad it was a Bullitt). Very Impressed

From what I understand, the Mach 1 will be slated for production and delivery in November 2002. I think it is great to have the first special production mustang in a very long time (Bullitt) and Team mustang says it is the best Mustang ever produced, so I am very happy with what I have.

I don't fee slighted at all. We were the first to buy into a limited edition car. From here on Ford will be offering "special models" as time goes on, that will get old and it won't mean anything. I'm happy with the power my car makes. Come November, if I want more power I'll pick up a Mach 1 to put next to my Bullitt.

I am quite content with 1994 just the way she is... if I had wanted a cobra, I would have bought one...nothing against the cobra or cobra owners mind u (unless of course they are french  )but the bullitts complete package and balance is what sold me... just like the boss 302 did in 1969-70
(and I bought a 70 boss 302 new)

There has been a lot of discussion about the Mach 1. The 4.6 is not the same as the Cobra, it will be the Lincoln power plant putting out about 300hp. I would be suprised if the shaker makes it into production, ans there are governmental restrictions on exposed intake systems.

Either way, it will be a great car when it is made.

i'd love to see the Mach 1 make it into production....and if i win the lottery AND it makes it to production, i'll buy one of those too!!
otherwise, i'll just be content with my Bullitt.
with all the bad news at Ford, i'm concerned about it actually making it to production but i hope it does. just generates more passion and excitment for the Mustang brand as far as i'm concerned

I saw pics of the concept car on a site somewhere...I think it's going to be another cool "retro" car just like our Bullitts.

I'm looking forward to seeing it happen...no matter what engine it has.

If they build it,I don't see how they are going with the 4V Mod engine, and still keeping it between the GT and Cobra, price wise. And if so,I would be a little ticked, because one of the head Mustang gurus had said "We want to keep the Cobra as the flag ship of the Mustang line. You put 300+ HP in the Stang, with solid rear axle, shaker scoop and all,and people will say "Cobra,What's that". Sure I like my Bullitt for exactly what it is,but it is a musclecar first!

Hey we were part of the pony revitalization! :-B So we have the edge there IMHO. The Mach1 will be awesome I am sure as will the Boss. I am waiting to see what the modular 5.0 is like. I may have to consider it for the new addition to the stable!

I love how the Mach 1 Looks. A little loud, yes, but it has the show and the go. It'll probably end up being the same motor setup as the Bullitt. Maybe by the time it comes out it will be rated at something higher than the 265Hp.

I look into my crystal ball and I see the Mach 1 having lots of problems. It's a new engine with a new shaker scoop plus all of our mods. I see broken rear axles as in the test car. I see a higher sticker price than the Bullitt, and I see me driving around in DHG#3276 with a big grin.
