I have only noticed a few problems with my Bullitt.
1. I made the dealer repaint the driver side door.
2. When it's cold, it makes an awful knocking noise.
3. I can hear a wind whistle at highway speeds.
4. I am starting to hear a noisy speedometer.
5. My freakin brakes squeal like crazy. I can't stand that!

Please let me know if anyone is having the same problems.

paint chips happen.
Breaks squeal: Was told it was due to the type of pads being used. The pads produce less dust, but squeal: solution, change the pads or drive on. I am just gonna drive on.
As for the other problems like with the whistle, I just turn up the radio or step on it. It hides the whistle really good!

Ya Travis, stepping on it or turning up the radio would hide the whistle alright, but other[/b] people hear the squealing brakes too! It is embarrasing. I am hoping that after I take Bullette out of hibernation in April from a 5 1/2 month sleep, she won't squeal anymore and purr like a kitten! Hope I'm not asking for toooo much! LOL

The brakes squeal because of the cheap material they are made of. Ford people blame this on regulations from the government limiting them to only use certain materials. Somehow related to the Tree Huggers or something. Best solution is go buy your own pads, put 'em on and drive like the wind.

Thank you everyone. My baby is at the dealer today. I hope that some of these problems can be resolved.
It is a shame to have the best looking and sounding car on the road, but you hate to apply the brakes. screeeeech.

I agree. A $30,000 Mustang should not squeal like a garbage truck. My daughter has a 2000 6 cyl convert and it as quite as a church mouse. Also, her's shifts as smooth cold as when it's hot. BUT....I love this car just the same. It's a blast to drive.

I got my car back from the dealer last Thursday. They replaced both rear rotors. WOW, that was great no more sqealing brakes. Until Sunday morning. This is sad. Oh well, back to the dealer.

Hope that this helps out if you return to the dealer: My '02 GT's brakes do not make any noise at all. I wonder if they "silently" went with a different pad material for 2002?

My Bullitt has(had) all items 1-5:

1. Finally fixed after 3rd try (driver's side window seal)
2. Transmission was rebuilt, then replaced. Now works fine (I'm using Redline D4 ATF, but will try GM Synchromesh to see if it can shift even better).
3. Brake squeal: comes and goes; rotors are warped and/or glazed- will have it addressed at next visit.
4. Paint chip, small scratches, other minor paint defects. It's been documented by the dealer. I'll have it addressed later (waiting for more "natural" wear to occur before repainting, etc.).
5. I've heard the whistle. Very minor; not going to worry about it unless it gets louder, happens more often.

I have the same problem with brakes squelling. It really sucks when you pull up to a club and all these hotties are stairing at you and your car and then they have to cover their ears because of the screeching. As far as shiffting...smooth baby. I have to say that I have had a little unfortuinate luck. I bought my car on Sept. 8th picked it up on Sept. 10th and then disaster hit america. The 4th day after I owned my Bullit #1059. These two punk cops pulled me over and tried to bust me like I stole the thing. They were just jelous. had to put the smack down and tell them to back the f*@@ off because they had nothing on me. They proceeded and tried to say that I was doing over 90mph on Lomabard in the city of San Francisco...Who do they think I am Steve McQueen. Any ways I got a lawyer and fought it and won..Yeah HA. So I see on this sight I have a few fella Texans that have a Love for the Beauty ride called the BULLITT. I'm from Texas and wish I could bring my car their for a few rides on 635 or I-30. Better yet the Lubbock boy got plenty of road to open it up. Wish I had my Bullitt when I was attending Texas Tech. I love the car and love living it up here in San Francisco. It is great cruising up those steep streets. No problems....the only problem is trying to keep from spinning the tires when starting on one of those hills....as far as highway driving out here...that is all you can do is cruise...to many freaking cars on the road to open it up. Take it easy all and I hope to get some pics up and running soon

Peace,
#1059
