I have my Bullitt in the shop right now for the gear swap. But the mechanic installing the gears says there is about an hour of labor to install the speedcal? Is this correct? From the impression I got from all of you who are running speedcal, it was a simple swap with some wire splicing. He says that according to the instructions that came with speedcal you have to take apart the console in order to get it in. Please someone let me know what exactly needs to be done. I need to know ASAP so I can let him know what to do.

I just ordered one myself. It will be here Monday, so I don't know the answer. I recommend you call Dallas Mustang and ask them if you don't hear anything from this post shortly or, call 'em anyway!

I did mine myself and it is an hour MAX if the shop has a lift. Taking the console apart involves removing the plastic trim piece with shifter boot which is a very easy job. (The complete piece lifts up. Just grab at the inside of the boot ring and pull the sides inward a little, while pulling up. Then when loose, disconnect the power connector.) Then you remove 4 bolts that hold a plate down over the shifter and then route the wiring harness down the side of the tranny. From underneath the car you make the connector shell changes and plug everything in according to the instructions.
I would say that 1 hour is a fair estimate from your shop.

If it will take a pro one hour to do the job then it will take me at least twice as long. I guess it is worth the labor to have it professionally installed. I would rather have it done right. Thanks for the response.

I placed my Abbott Box in the area under the radio, remove shifter boot plate, and it is that open area under the radio. The wire was plenty long, and the unit is out of sight. About an hour, not counting hunting around for a few wire connectors, beer and so on!
