Does anyone know anything about Cams? I see ads for cams for 5.0 and 5.8l but none for 4.6's I am just getting into the world of car mods and I know very little. DO they make Cams for our cars.? Once again this may be a stupid question but asking is learning right
Thanks

I don't know if they make new cams but a lot of companies make regrinds of the stock cams to the specs you want. Mod max and shm are suppose to be coming out with some new forged cams for like 700-800$. Drop me a pm and i can give you the e-mail address of a guy i know how will p&p your heads and get you regrinds for real cheap he will do one or the other if you don't wnat to do both it is really cheap compared to some other people. laters

There are new billets available from SHM and ModMax. I believe ModMax gets about 4 bills for each cam. I have not seen to anyone with them though. I have heard the HP regrinds and the words "bad ass" would pretty much sum it up

My car will be going in for some "minor" mods in the Houston area this April. I will be adding Crane regrinds and ModMax valve springs to ported/polished heads. The heads will then be topped off by an extrude honed and ported intake. The car will be tuned in Houston to get her going then it's off to JMS for the final tune by Chris Johnson. Details will of course be posted right here first. Stay tuned --- Arthur

Sorry it took me awhile to answer back BullittBro. Yes there are hotter cams available,at 800 bucks for the pair, plus figure in new springs and all. Result is,you might pick up 10-15 HP,WITH ALL ELSE BEING STOCK.But the power would come mostly at a higher RPM range and cost you some low end torque. I think it would work better as a package with head work, like better flowing, larger valves, and port work. By itself though a cam swap,on a 4.6/5.4, is costly for what you gain. Now 302-351W engines are a different story(5.0,5.
