depends on the brand and model
a 275 Nitto DR is about equivalent to a 245 or 255 radial, even in their standard 555 line, which is what I have. But then there are 275 tires that will fit good, not have overbulge, and work even in cornering.
I have 255/40 in Nitto 555 and LOVE them. Handle great, wear AWESOME (we're talking over 40k miles of hard driving), and are priced right.
