1. '57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser (Indy 500 pace car and a timeless classic)
2. '57 Chevy Bel-Air (the King of the classics, looked good then, looks good now)
3. '57 Ford Fairlane 500 (the unsung hero which actually outsold the Chevy)
4. '55-57 T-Bird (slow, but sharp)
5. '59 Cadillac (fins gone mad)
6. '58 Buick (caused the great "chrome shortage" of '58 )
7. '58 Edsel (we laughed then, but now we admire)

Back in 1965, my parents looked at a used 1964 Galaxie 500 XL convertible. It was turquoise and white with a white top. I know the car was a 390 (side fender badge) and automatic with console shift. I thought that would be a great family car but what does a 7 year old know.

Instead, they ordered a 1966 Ford LTD hardtop and took delivery of it in November of 1965. That car was loaded onto a Santa Fe railroad auto hauler just after Christmas in December of 1965. When the car arrived in Seattle in late January of 1966, the car had front and rear damage from the adjacent cars not being properly restrained. It also had oil on the roof and hood from the leaky car above. Dad was pissed!!!!!

My father refused to accept his new car with less that 500 miles on it and his employer was forced to buy the car and my father ordered another identical car from a dealer in Bellevue Washington. We had an Avis rental 1966 Dodge Dart for about 8 weeks while we waited for the replacement to arrive.

Thanks for stirring up the memory banks with that photo!

I know and all the photo shopped pics of PY that Bob and Bud made up of him and we all had belly gut laughs with those!

Here's some more grease for your memory banks, Jerry. It even has a shiny 390!

Kurt, I did not save stuff like that on my computer. Most all my pics that I saved of Bob's creations of PY and the chalkboard were saved at the "old IMBOC" under My Images. They are all gone now like a puff of smoke.

Kurt, do you ever hear from Nasty Bob? I have asked Mark awhile back and he hadn't heard from him in awhile. Bob and I had our outs many years ago. Had something to do with Wal Mart that I don't even remember. He quit speaking to me when I made a few remarks about his employer.

It's that time of the year again, folks. Yesterday, I was up on a ladder cleaning the gutters on the garage. I'd just climbed to the top and the second my head popped above the garage's flat roof, there they were --- two fast-moving Air Force Thunderbird F-16s, scooting across the sky like bats out of hell! A couple seconds later, their sound caught up and nearly blew me off the ladder! They were doing some practice runs. Yes, it's Labor Day weekend and this year it's the Air Force's turn to shake our livers and speed our hearts. I always get a lump in my throat when I see them, because they remind me of the power and the glory of our beautiful nation. They remind me of why I put on a helmet, grabbed a rifle and walked in the searing heat 12,000 miles from home, all those years ago. God Bless America! It's time for the...

I saw one flying in the "wild" just recently. High in the air, right out front of my house! Somewhere in the fringes of this godforsaken city, we have a wild bald eagle! He was a majestic sight to behold, indeed!

That's PTSD. But no, the jets were welcome sounds. They turned the enemy into barbeque and roasted Viet Cong can't pull a trigger.

REST IN PEACE WILLARD SCOTT!

He was one of the great ones. Checking up on the weather always brought a smile when you tuned him in. When he told you what weather was coming you didn't question it. And you looked forward to seeing who the next 100-year-old Smucker Jar honoree would be. Willard didn't make it to 100, but he got himself on a Smucker jar anyway, at age 80...

Wow...one would not want to be on the wrong end of that cannon! But then, not really "guns" in the typical fighter sense.

Willard Scott...RIP....being a weatherman wasn't his entire claim to fame...
