To completely change the subject to wintertime indoor sports other than bedroom sports, here we go. Have you ever wondered how a skilled pool player makes a shot, then the cue ball bounces off a cushion and it "just happens" to land for the next shot in position? Well. it's not an accident of luck. The why of it is easy to understand...to do it while almost instinctively knowing when to do what for each shot? That takes many hours of misspending your youth.

On this day in 1989 I was driving westbound on State Highway 526 in Everett Washington.
It was about 12:30 in the afternoon on my way to work.
The sun was our that day! Sun was so low in the southern horizon that it was actually below the visor when I swung it over to the side window.
That‘s when I really realized how far north I really was!

And for the opposite situation: I spent some time on a native reserve on James Bay in July. The sun never really set at night. At about 2 AM it would go down to the horizon, and by 4:30 AM the sun was up again. Can't imagine what the winters are like, over 20 hours of darkness or near dark.

I have been to Concrete a few years back. The river there was in flood stage. My cousin who lives in Sedro Woolley, Wa DID see bigfoot 5 years ago on a riding trail that she took her horses on one bright day. He crossed her path and looked at her and her horse and then went down the embankment towards the creek. The horse spooked and she took him home in wonderment of what she just saw. It was only about a 5 second ordeal but she could describe him very well. She kept it secret until just last year. She ended up having to put the horse down as he became dangerous to other people and to herself after their encounter. He kept turning circles on their ride home from the sighting and she couldn't settle him down. She is a "horse whisperer" so she knew how to handle the situation at hand. She tried and tried with the horse but he just would not quit trying to hurt people, even her husband and herself. So sad....

She is having her story published in a book an author is writing about Bigfoot encounters here and now. No kidding! "If you don't believe this tale is true, ask the blindman, he saw too." The Pacific Northwest is the area of most Bigfoot/Sasquatch sightings in the U.S.

I have one that resides in my backyard. He doesn't eat much...

So, how high is that fence? The stepladder? Judging from that pic, I'd have to say you have the tinyfoot sub species. ;)

Paul, that is a windmill and the fence is 8' high. So yes, it must be a toddler as a grown BF would tower over the top of the fence. ;) I am on the eastern side of Washington and we don't seem to have sightings over here. :) I am serious folks.
Vicki, you goof. I'll have you know I copied your "Bigfoot" pic and put it under careful analysis with my handy dandy Hasbro "Super Detective Photo Enhancement Kit" and after careful examination I have determined that your adolescent Bigfoot creature is nothing more than a creation made of plywood and painted flat black. See Paul. He does that crow up fine as a fiddle and if you're polite, he'll throw in fries! :ROFLMAO:

Jimbob, my adolescent BF is actually made of metal but the flat black is correct. :p

Well, when I was a young n' and hunter, I spent many hours in the upper Santiam Canyon of the western slopes of the Cascades, same country bigfoot supposedly ranges. Matter of fact, there are some Sweet Home (town) locals who swear they've seen one..or tracks. All I can say is that I've seen some pretty wonderous critters during many hours spent both below and above the timber line. Deer, Elk, Bear, Cougar, hawks & eagles, even saw an ulra rare Fisher once...way down in the tall and uncut of the upper Santiam river...took me a while to figure out what I'd seen. David's son Todd saw it too, so we knew we weren't just seeing things.

But...Never, never mind you...have I seen a bigfoot. We (David & I) did see some tracks that were obviously faked. Does that count? (edit) But that's no proof that they don't exist...so may the legend continue.

Good cover, Jimbob!

Buddy of mine is a trapper. He's caught 5 Fishers already this year. Says they have no real predators up here. Forest is full of them. They are vicious little buggers.

Down here very rare...considered endangered. Bigger than a mink, Vicki....about the size of a housecat, sort of like a mini Badger, from what I've read about their behavior. Remember Todd & I..."What was that?" "Damned it I know." When we got together with David, trying describe what we saw...he didn't have a clue either. This was before the internet...took a spell before somebody came up with Fisher...a pic in a book...bingo.

I had an Anthropology Professor who convinced me that the "Bigfoot" thing cannot be real. He gave many good reasons for his opinion, but the most compelling was the fact that there is no way that the creature could exist in such close proximity to humans without, by now, someone somewhere stumbling upon remains. As for the "sightings," I think some people have seen something, but whatever they saw is wild. And either common, or a close offshoot of another species. But even that is doubtful. So, that's that.

Jimbob, remember when we all thought talk of UFO's was bunkum? Then the Navy pilots and their radar images came out.
So, just saying...who knows?

As far as finding Bigfoot remains goes...a hunting trip tale. Twilight...shouldn't have made the shot, but did. Shot across a canyon, got a buck down. David & I walked down and up to the buck. By flashlight, tagged and field dressed it. Decided it would be unsafe to try to pack him out in the dark. Came back the next morn with pack boards, thinking we'd cut him up for the pack out. Jimbob, there was nothing left...I mean nothing but maybe a few clumps of fur. Coyotes...We didn't even see any horns, the head had been dragged off to who knows where...nothing there but bits of fur. Yeah, since I tagged it..although the tag was missing, I'd gotten my deer for that year. I just donated the carcass to coyotes...hope they enjoyed the feast.
