There is no such thing as "time..."
Plant Thigh Adaptation People in nature Barechested

An Anthrology professor I once had told us about a tribe of people on an uncharted island that did not recognize time. There was no past or future tense in their language, only present. And they never spoke of past or future things. Perhaps they too realized what Einstein proved. There is no such thing as time. It is an illusion. Time and space are relative! They are entwined and are actually the "Fourth Dimension."

I'll say this much --- after watching this video I am so glad that I am, and have always been, a side-sleeper. If you sleep on your back, you too will want to change your sleeping habits and start sleeping on your side. Pay close attention to the "stick men" in this video. They will convince you! And so, here we go, on yet another....

Hey, Josh Turner can play Guitar some...sure can! Who's better? He or Toni? Reina's main talent? Although not in this video...yes, her voice.

Time? Well, lemme tell ya...I certainly do believe that much of the universe has moved along without me. ;) Like the savage, I often think I don't belong in this Brave New World. (Apologies to Huxley). If only side sleeping would slow time...LOL!

Good cover, Jimbob. Now I have one for you...Joe Rogan using the force of gravity and the Coralis effect to make round spheres travel in various directions. Joe Rogan a man well versed in many areas...one of the keys to his success. (5 minutes)

There's talent in them thar' hills!

Pearl got news today that a man named Gary Adams passed away. Gary was a good friend of Stringbean's and Pearl knew him. Gary lived in the very same neck of the woods as her, in Harts Creek, West Virginia (aka "The Holler"). Turns out that Gary played guitar in a very good Bluegrass band called "The Blue Velvet." Here's a link to the news of his passing and more about the man: Gary Adams passes - Bluegrass Today

Gary recently and back in the 70's with the group (center, with guitar)...

Happy days are here again!

Food Drinkware Coffee cup Tableware Cup

I am pleased to report that my box of House Blend Maxwell House arrived --- two days early! Right off the bat, I tore the box open and threw a pod into the K-cup coffee maker. When I began stirring it as the coffee started pouring in, the kitchen filled with the Heavenly scent of fresh-brewed goodness. I knew Maxwell House was good, but there's something to be said for this "House Blend." It's sort of like comparing an Epiphone with a C.F. Martin guitar. Outstanding!

So, as I sat there enjoying my coffee, Pearl accidently said something with the word "go" in it and the dog broke into his usual "sass mommy" barking routine (he hates it when he thinks she's leaving the house). I noticed she had the little radio set on a classical music station. I think it was playing Chopin. So I say, "I never knew our dog was so refined. It's a wonder he doesn't demand to have Grey Poupon on his dog food!" Pearl laughed and said, "Oh, he loves Grey Poop-On, all right. Or Brown or any other color!" (When he was younger the poor pooch had a nasty habit of dining on stool if our backs were turned. The filthy Amish that bred those dogs apparently just slung food on the ground for the pups and were delighted when they'd feast on their own stool). I had wondered how they kept their lawn so clean and poop-free. Thankfully, though, we broke him of that awful habit.

But, again, I'm a happy camper regarding coffee. Next cup I make I'll toast to all of you! Company.... dismissed!

Free As A Bird...

It was 1995, 15 years after John Lennon had left this world when the remaining three Beatles used his cassette demo in the studio and joined their lost friend once again to make a finished recording of what John had written. Now for a bit of useful info you may want to jot down and put in your toolbox. Inch wrench sizes that work for metric. Yep, just because USA brand cars use metric these days doesn't mean you need to toss all your SAE wrenches.

5/16 works for 8mm
3/8 works for 10mm
7/16 works for 11mm
1/2 works for 13mm
5/8 works for 16mm
11/16 works for 17mm
3/4 works for 19mm

A day of reckoning...

Tomorrow is the big day for the final four NFL teams. Whoever wins those two games will advance to the coveted Super Bowl! The NFC Championship game between the 49ers and Eagles kickoff time is at 3:00 p.m. ET. on FOX Sports. The AFC match-up between the Bengals and the Chiefs follows at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Football widows are welcome to visit "Vicki's Tips" on IMBOC, for the latest recipes and helpful household tips.

For me, it's all about...

The chant "Who Dey" might be a mystery to many of you. There are several theories on how it got started and what it means. One has it linked to the local Cincinnati beer, "Hudepohl." The Cincinnati slang for the beer was "Hudy" and some say the beer vendors started it by changing their call from "Hudy!" to "Who Dey." Others say it was stolen from the New Orleans Saints, who would chant "Who dat?" Either way, the phrase is always aimed at the Bengals' opposing team. One thing is certain: The chant dates to the team’s first run to the Super Bowl—Super Bowl XVI in January 1982, against the San Francisco 49ers.

Side Note: The Bengals have even named the team mascot "Who Dey."

Remembering Jewels...

You may recall me reminiscing about a performance that our band, "Tom Wilson and Texas Storm" played at a huge country dance hall, well east of Cleveland. You may also recall how I got a glimpse of what it must be like to be a "name act" and hear the roar of a crowd, digging your music. We had sent a demo tape of our original song, "Cool Sping Water," to the the nearby country FM radio station and when we broke into the song the whole place erupted in people jumping and clapping, cheering and throwing Stetsons into the air. I had goosebumps on my arms, my back and the top of my head! "Wow!" I thought. "This must be what it's like to be a star!"

It was no accident that that happened. The station, WKKY, had been promoting the gig for over a week, playing our tune over the radio and using snipets of it in their commercial of the event. To us it was "just another band gig," but out there in Cornfield County they had us pumped up to be the next up and coming hit country band! Heck, if we'd known that we would've practiced more. But really, it was better we didn't know. It would have made us nervous and uptight and we probably would've played horribly. As it was, we were our laid back regular selves and played darn good.

Another thing we didn't know was some of the top talent in country music had also played at Jewels. There were dressing rooms and a big plywood tunnel that led to the stage. I noticed that people and bands had signed their names on the wall, but didn't stop to read any of them. I was too busy carrying in drums and amplifiers, etc. Had I stopped and read, I would've been shocked into a nervous tizzy! Here's who's been there:

"Jewels has played host to country greats such as Mark Wills, Noel Haggard, Leroy Parnel, Daryl Singletary, Confederate Railroad, David Allen Coe and the Kentucky Headhunters, among others. One of the most remembered performances at Jewels, was that of country superstar Toby Keith." ---The Star Beacon, Ashtabula, OH

One thing about it. That gig at Jewels will be a memory I'll never forget! Here's some photos of Jewels and a couple songs that made Stetsons fly...

Here's the Kentucky Headhunters doing their biggest hit... (I'm sure Stetsons flew that night, too!)

And here's us...

Side Note: I noticed that both Doug Phelps and Anthony Kenny had signed the wall. Oddly, Kenny was the original bass player in the original band, "Itchy Brother," which formed in 1968 and played until 1982. After that, Phelps became the bass player for the Headhunter band. So what both were doing at Jewels on a Saturday night in 1999 is beyond me. Tagging along, I presume.

We all know that Washington D.C. is a messed up place. But it turns out that it's not only politicians who are inept. Apparently, the staff that coordinate and set up a venue for a concert are just as inept. At least it was in 1964 at the Washington D.C. Colosseum. So, the Beatles take to the stage and start plugging in guitars and testing mics and Ringo sits down and starts adjusting things on his drum kit. And then they realize that Ringo's drums are set up backwards to the crowd! So there was poor Ringo, trying to spin the whole round drum riser himself. But it didn't end there. George starts singing the first song and quickly learns that his mic is so low that no one could hear him. So he walks over and continues singing out of John's mic.

All through the concert they had to gang up on the one good mic, which made for some odd arrangements of how they were positioned. And the spinning of the drum riser didn't stop there. They had to do it six or eight times! Seems the Colosseum folks wanted that to happen so all four decks of concert-goers would get to view the Beatles from the front. In other words, 3/4 of the entire crowd had to either look at the sides of the Beatles, or their butts! By the time the concert ended, the amplifiers were jostled every which way and poor Ringo's drum riser looked like it had been through World War III. It was a fiasco! But, they sounded as could be expected. I had to laugh at the end, when the MC said "We're going to have to get them back here again." If I were a Beatle I'd say, "Fat chance!"

Hell Jimbob, Cool Spring Water shoulda made the national charts...then an invite to Grand ol' Oprey, and...well, your life would have been different today. That would have been either good or bad...lots of feel good and feel bad stories connected to musical success. But hell..you'll always have memories of that time at Jewells.

The Kentucky Headhunters? I guess they're okay, but sure didn't like the playing marbles on a pool table shot. I instantly had a vision of some innocent pool player spending his quarters and then wondering why the ball return didn't work.

LOL on the Beatles stage setup screwup...confession...didn't watch it all. Not good audio.

Now, let's go wayyy back to a hit playing on the radio when I was in high screwall...just before the playoffs start.

Joseph Ossai (58) for the Bengals blew any chance by shoving Mahomes to the turf out of bounds. Had he not done that, the Chiefs would've had to try an impossibly long field goal and the game would likely have gone to overtime. He made a stupid mistake, but you had to feel bad for the young lad afterwards on the bench, sobbing. But, like you said Don, it is what it is! And it was what it was. And it will be what it always will be --- a loss. I know the feeling well.

And I'm okay, Paul. Nothing that knocking my head against the wall about a dozen times won't cure.

👆 Rub it in, rub it in! 🤪

And someone needs to tell those Chiefs fans that Chiefs never had a "Kingdom." All they had was a horse, a wigwam, a squaw, a buffalo hide bed and a Tribal Council. Oh, and a feather bonnet.
