I saw an ad for a dealership that will put nitrogen in your tires (this month only, with purchase of a new car.) What are the benefits (if any) and how much would it cost? Supposedly it increases mileage and saves on tire wear. Anybody know the facts?

In a nutshell Nirogen is 3 times more dense than air, it does not hold moisture. Nitorgen does not expand/contract as much as air over temperature changes.

The benefits are consistant tire pressure (reduces wear), better fuel economy (since most drivers do not adjust tire pressures regularly). Reduced corrosion inside steel rims.

Nitrogen is used in virtually all professional wheeled motorsports as well as all commercial aircraft.
