We found a Choice Hotel about 7 miles away (Choice hotels = free nights for us since my wife travels and racks up points like mad). It's at 185 Greenwood Lane, Bowling Green, KY 42104 and "tentatively" booked a room.

Thanks Chuck! Just FYI We live about 30 mins from this track. We will be Grilling Burgers, Hotdogs and such Friday and Saturday night. I plan to be at Beech Bend as I live about 35 miles from BG. Plenty of restaurants and nice shopping mall, 2 Walmarts, Lowes, Home Depot, auto parts stores galore! Really a nice town to visit! Sounds like a mini-national Bullitt event in the making!! Google BGs tourism site! Home of Western Kentucky University also.

Most coaster enthusiasts, park-goers, and other prominent leaders in the amusement industry alike commonly refer to Amusement Today’s (AT’s) Golden Ticket Awards as the “Oscars” of the amusement park business. Each year, every amusement/theme park in the entire world competes for these highly prestigious golden tickets, in categories ranging from best park ride, to best roller coaster (steel and wood), and Park of the Year.
This year, the prestigious ceremony was held at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia, and park manager Charlotte Gonzalez and her son, Reed Gonzalez, attended the event representing Beech Bend on September 10-11. Among others parks present were Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari, Kings Island, Knoebels, Six Flags, and Universal Studios.
Beech Bend was very active at the Golden Ticket Awards, and received a Golden Ticket for PARK OF THE YEAR!

Beech Bend is honored to be named the Publisher’s Pick Park of the Year! The Park of the Year is a very prestigious award given to one different park in the world every year. The Park of the Year is a chosen for a variety of reasons. Due to the disastrous flood waters in May, and because of park owner Dallas Jones’ health complications in February and March, the additions to Splash Lagoon did not open when expected, instead nearly two months later. It has been rough, as we and our loyal guests know, but now Splash Lagoon is running full force.
Being named Park of the Year comes with it a prestigious award, an actual “Golden Ticket.” This is Beech Bend Park’s first ever Golden Ticket, with many more sure to come in the future. Not only is Beech Bend named Park of the Year, but it also remains in the Top 5 friendliest parks in the world for the fourth straight year. The Kentucky Rumbler moves up a spot to number 16 in the rankings for all wooden roller coasters in the world in 2010. Ever since its opening in 2006, the Kentucky Rumbler has been ranked in the top 20 wooden roller coasters every year.

For our final stop of the Keystone Automotive NMRA Ford Nationals, we head to the rolling hills of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Beech Bend Raceway will again be home to our World Finals event. As the final event, this is not only one of the NMRA's oldest, but hands down the largest. With over 400 heads-up race cars attending last year, you can expect close to 500-600 packing the raceway this year.
5.0 Mustang will also host its awesome King of the Street competition where 16 of the best all-around Mustangs shoot for the coveted title! <HR>NMRA World Finals to Host 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords' King of the Street Competition

"5.0 Mustang's King of the Street competition is a great event to check out each year at the NMRA World Finals," said Charlie Harmon, president of the NMRA. "The caliber of vehicles that enter this competition is awesome because they look incredible and they all put down some serious numbers on the dyno and on the track. This competition further demonstrates the connection that the NMRA and 5.0 Mustang have with serious street-legal performance enthusiasts. Steve Turner, the editor of 5.0 Mustang, and his team truly bring out the best street Mustangs from around the U.S. to compete for the honor of King of the Street."

The NMRA World Finals is the largest all-Ford drag racing event in the U.S. and it is held each year at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY. King of the Street is just one of many special features of this event.
NMRA To Host Terminator / GT500 Shootout at World Finals Event

The NMRA is pleased to announce that Posi Performance has stepped up to the plate to sponsor a new class billed as the Terminator / GT500 Shootout at the 13th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA World Finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the weekend of Sept. 29 - Oct. 2, 2011. The Terminator / GT500 Shootout will bring together some of the fastest Cobras and GT500s in the U.S. to compete in a heads-up winner take all format at one of the largest NMRA Keystone Automotive events on the schedule. Some of the loudest smack-talk on the web is from the Terminator / GT500 community all talking about who has the fastest ride...well this Shootout will decide it once and for all!

I was at Beech Bend in August for a company picnic and the Splash Lagoon is AWESOME!

Dallas Jones and his family has put together an awesome facility! They have battled

Mother Nature this year and finally accomplish their goals! Dallas is an old time

drag racer knows how to put on a show that fans enjoy!

Again, your post is EXCELLENT and being a lifelong resident of this area I truly

enjoyed exploring the NMRA and Beech Bend web sites!

Thanks Chuck! Just FYI We live about 30 mins from this track. We will be Grilling Burgers, Hotdogs and such Friday and Saturday night. This is an invitation to those bullittheads who do attend this event...Weather permitting we will have a MUCH better place to simply hang out...My Backyard!!! :lol: :lol:

Well, actually, we plan to go there while we're there. My wife wants to go see it and I'll admit, I'd like to see it too.

For her 40th birthday, she's ordering herself a 'vette and wants to take delivery of it AT the museum. Fortunately, we've got a several more years to save $$ for that.
