Obviously they got one DHG Bullitt and driver to stop. The picnic was probably optional...

Burning river debris? I thought that only happened in Cleveland...

It’s the Arkansas River. In the background, is a lock and dam. It appeared they had just did a little clearing of small weed trees, and such around the lock, and collected some wood debris that had washed ashore from the river and were just burning it.

The Arkansas River basically runs through the middle part of the state. The Buffalo and White I think come in from the north and eventually all of them end at the Mississippi, I think. I’m not a native of this state.

I have made a couple of trips up to the northern part of the state, to fish, and you’re right, it’s some pretty country up there.

Oh no, you are mistaken. That happens in Michigan as well, specifically the Rouge River, which runs right next to Henry Ford's famous Rouge Plant, which contains Dearborn Assembly, home of the Mustang!

Actually, the Rouge has been cleaned up pretty well in recent years, but I still wouldn't eat a 3 eyed fish from it...

Well, there's a better name out there... I just need to snap a photo (unless some Wisconsinite does it for me)...

On I-94 around exit 341 in SE Wisconsin, just north of the IL border, is the Bong Recreational Area--with a nice highway sign pointing it out...
