Not that I don't like the stainless steel cover over the gas cap (with a mustang emblem on the inside) which looks very cool at that, but I was surprised that it wasn't locking or a pop out from the inside type. Granted, Ford had a budged in mind when designing this car and put the money in mods we all appreciate. I purchased a stunt locking gas cap for twenty dollars and like having that just in case some woodbee punk got any stupid ideas. I also purchased the LoJack system too, just for GP. I might sound paranoid but I do live in California which has a high rate of vandalism and theft . I don't know if many of you bought the cheapy alarm that Ford was offering but the LoJack and the locking gas cap seemed like the way to go for me.

The car comes with it's own security system. I bought the cheapy Ford alarm, the LoJack, a club, and a locking car cover. I figure the more obsticals the thief has to get through, the more time I have to get my shorts on to run out and beat the crap out of him in the middle of the night.

LOl Y2K! The more obstacles the better I say! That reminds me of when hubby lived in Calif. and there was someone stealing tools from his box in the back of his truck. He didn't have time to put shorts on and ran out and apprehended the guy buck naked while the X-wife called police. Guess who got arrested for indescent exposure!

I thought the same thing about the non-locking gas cap. I wound up buying a locking gas cap from Ford.

Hey McQ Stang,

Did that locking cap come from the dealer or through some other source? I looked at the local Checker auto parts store and Stant didn't have a locking cap for the 2001 or 2000. BTW, what did it cost?

Thanks

I'm just not sure what weapon to grap on the way outside if someone was breaking in. The Ak,pistol, or shotgun. I was in the military for quite a while and have a pretty nice collection but maybe breaking out a gun on the way out could just get you in a lot of trouble because you may just act on impulse and that would be a big mess, right.

I bought the locking gas cap from the Ford dealer. There is a chrome/bright metal tag on the gas cap that says Ford which hides the lock. This slides out of the way to access the lock.

I wouldn't take a gun. That is too easy and not nearly painful enough. Something like a shoe or a towel would be a much more fitting weapon.

ooh ooh I know! How about one of those nasty wire cleaning brushes. You know, the ones for cleaning grills and such.
