For 6 months prior to ordering my Bullitt last March, I was seriously thinking of ordering a white Mustang GT and doing a retro GT-350. Lowered suspension, exhaust, enough engine updates to get 300+ hp, and the dual blue stripes. Frankly, my wife suggested the Bullitt instead, I didn't need much coaxing, it made more sense from an actual dollar standpoint. If this was available last year, I would of considered purchasing it. Deleting the rear wing and replacing the GT side scoop trim with the Bullitt's would be an improvement in looks.

Now I like that  For my birthday, I was given a book on Mustangs. One of the photos was on the Hurst Black and Gold Mustangs. Now the Black Bullitts would look hot with Gold rally stripes<G>.

Thanks for the post and photos.

I think those were the HERTZ rental car combo colors. Yes, for you younger folks you could rent a SHELBY MUSTANG back then.

Actually, I knew that, and I'm only 25  My neighbor (in his 70's) told me a story (when he first saw my Bullitt  ) about him renting a Shelby Stang in the late 60's.

And they always had the same amount of rubber on the tires when they were returned as when they left, right?

The comment was not based upon my personal preference. I was simply noting that the scoop on the Shelby does not look a whole lot different from that one on the Bullitt/GT, maybe a little longer & narrower, and that leaving it on would more closely resemble the Shelby. I personally find the hood scoop the least favorite part of the Bullitt. I would have preferred a hood, on our Bullitts, like the one on the Roush.

Just picture the Roush, with the Bullitt scoop, no wing, and the quarter windows with some type of slotted in-fill..........?

Not picking at you Karl, just clarifying.

I guess I should get some sleep before I post messages<G>. I remember reading about these cars in the late 70's. They would pull the carpet back and find tack marks from the role bar that was welded in for the weekend fun at the Track .

My buddy had a 67 that we did the Gold rally stripes on and it looked very sweeeeeeeet.

Thanks for putting in Hertz instead of Herst. Or was that Hurst<G>. Time for BED I think.

Bud

PS Karl take your snow back, we just are not used to it at sea level here in Northern California<G>.

I'm pretty sure Roush did not use the current GT/Bullitt hood because of supercharger clearance issues. All Stage 3 cars have the "99-up Cobra-style" hood.
