OBDII Scanners

Does anyone have experience using the new OBDII Scanners? I am finding several showing up on the web at prices we can afford. One of the better ideas uses a Palm or Handspring as the read-out device. I'd list the web sites but I don't know if that's allowed... here. Maybe there's a forum where you've talked about it, I couldn't find it though. The pro units allow you to reprogram the EPROM in the ECC-V
