As some may know I'm haveing some work done on the heads and manifold, but first they have to come out. Day one and so far so good.

Here's a good shot of the underside of our manifold with the bottom off.

This is a shot of the passengerside head with the valve cover off.

And this is why it's not a do-it-yourself project for most people.

What a mess of wires and hoses! Remember though, no pain no gain.

That's my friend Mike's hand. I probably couldn't get this done without his help. Anyway we should have the heads out tomorrow and then I'll get them crated up.

Tey're out! And yes the drivers side was alot more difficult. I pulled them with the manifolds on whichwas fine on the passenger side. The drivers side was a little different. There were 3 head bolts that I couldn't pull out near the firewall because they are so long I would run into the master cylinder just before they were out. Also the dipstick tube was a little bit of a hang up even though it was totally lose. We learned alot though and installation will go a lot better because of it. The only thing I am conserned about is getting the cams rotated back to there original positions for installation. We gat some good reference shots but really didn't see how the different marks ever lined up in any special way. Any thoughts to make installation go better would be great.

the cams are a bitc# to line back up. i have the 2001 tech cd. if you have a fast connection i can ftp it to you. but in any case there are two marks on the crank and the marks on the cams have to be at a 90 to get correct also you have to compress the adj with a vise and then lock it with a special tool to be able to put it back in

Thanks for the offer Black Sunshine. I'll send you an e-mail and have you send it to my brother. 26,400 is the best I can do for an internet connection and that just sucks!

And here's the pic Ray.

Ray!!!!!!!!!!!

EVERY ONE of my buds say that! And I agree totally BUT I just don't have the doe.

We are talking about another $700 if I could find a deal on the LTs and short H pipe. Then I would just have to get some really good gaskets, stage 8 locking bolts, o2 extenders, mil elliminators... And then I would have to do something about that factory paper filter I'm still runnig. Oh and then I will need that heavy duty tourqe arm kit from maximum motorsports so I will have some traction.

You know what I'm talking about. Really though I will do the LTs but it's going to have to wait. I did go ahead and order 30mm wheel spacers and Maximum Motorsport's strut tower brace. Who know paying all that mortgage interest would give a little pop to my income tax return!

Have you attempted to photocopy the portion of the service manual pertaining to this operation? I am employeed at a Ford dealership and we attempt to help anyone with needed info such as you are in search of. If you find no success feel free to email me and I will do the best that I can to see that you get a copy of the Ford manual relating to the project you have started.

Ok Ray, you talked me into it. I am working OT this Sat. Sun. & Mon. so I can pay for my toys. It will take a few more of those but at 12 hours a shift at time and a half it wont take too long. Is there any other option to the short H that goes with the long tubes BBK sells?

BullittGT433, That's an excellent idea, thanks. That 01' tech cd was a huge zip file that would take me nearly two days to download! My brother downloaded it last night in about 45 min (he sucks  ). So I hope this will give me everything I need but if not I'll give the folks at my dealership a call or you an email if that doesn't work out.

Thanks again guys!

I know growing up my friends parents said the same thing. "Ray is a BAD influence" :-B
I should have the car back next week,"Mr Murphy" is holding my car hostage at Fordspeed.com. They had some problems with some of the parts ordered for the car "NOT THE VORTECH" headers and gauges. The S/C headers/gauges are installed,Fordspeed is at the tail end of the project. "I should have the car back any day now" I hope.... :-B There doing a great job!!!!!
