Pictures & Stories from the Steve McQueen 30th Anniversary Tribune & Film Festival:

Hey guys, I figure since so many of us involved with drivers duty I figured it would be good start a thread to share.

Anyway here's some of mine.

Lots of funny stories but the best for me had to be when we finally settled on who was driving who (a story in and of itself because some of the VIPs wanted to couble up leaving some of our Loyal Bullittheads high & dry).

Anyway I ended up driving Chad's son's - Steven & Chase. Great kids I have to say - well mannered and personable. I'm sure my 10 & 7 year old daughters will love that as they reconized Steven from some Disney movies in the pictures I showed them prior to leaving this morning. But what was really funny was that just as we where about to leave the "W" Hotel's to the Theater – Chad jumps out of the lead car & comes up to my window – leans in & puts his hand on my shoulder & says: “No pressure – but you should know you've got the only surviving male Steve McQueen gene pool riding in your car.”

DOH! :shock:

Oh yeah – “No Pressure” – we all laughed about it but at that point I realized that “IF” there was an accident of any sort – I didn’t want to survive it with that on my head.

Anyway it was a great event - I just wished it'd turned out better for some of the other Bullittheads who had worked so hard for this and been involved from the start...

Michael,

Thank you for the kind words. It's very nice of you to send me a note,
but it was YOU that really did the tough work, and it could not have happened without you.
I enlisted the right guy for the job, that much I know for certain.
I think I understand what went awry, but what is important is that the event all went smooth--even
with all those technical issues that caused the film to begin way later than scheduled.

I must say, that I and most everyone that was fortunate enough to be in the audience, felt especially lucky to be able to experience an event that was,
as Jacqueline Bissett so eloquently said, "An event that was long overdue."

Chad called me to express his deep and sincere appreciation to the IMBOC guys, and for showing such tremendous love and respect for his dad. After the parade, he asked me how the cars sounded and I told him I became emotional hearing the engines echo on Hollywood Blvd. It was such an incredible experience that it brought tears to my eyes. It was a whole week of Bullitt excitement -- a once in a lifetime BLAST to honor the King of Cool. I just loved every minute of it and will never forget it, and the guys of IMBOC that made it all happen. You guys are the BEST!

Please send my gratitude to all the guys, and my hopes of seeing you all at Friends of Steve McQueen, June 4, 2011 in Chino Hills.

up-date 10-05-11

e-mailed Marie Bobin with Jules Verne yesterday and asked her about the CD
Jules Verne was going to put together covering the Steve McQueen Evening
in Hollywood. I asked her when the drivers could expect a copy of it.

'got responce back'

There will be no CD the cost and time to make it and the work load to get future projects out, makes it impossible ... very sorry !

Looks like No CD BULLITTHEADS !

PS : this is a good reason not to miss the June 1-2, 2012 Friends of Steve McQueen BULLITT Theme Event @ Boys Republic ... way you ask !
